Meta launched the pilot program for Instagram Plus, the paid version of its social network, in Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines, at a cost of just over one euro.

According to the parent company, this service was originally aimed at content creators and online personalities, “but now Meta also hopes to attract other users with a cheaper subscription and different features that it has already begun testing in some regions.

The monthly fee will offer improvements to Stories. In this regard, “subscribers to the new service will be able to view other people’s stories anonymously, without the author knowing they have been viewed.”

Additionally, it will be possible to see how many people have reviewed one of their stories, extend its duration by 24 hours, or feature them once a week so they appear at the top of their followers’ Stories feeds.

Paid users will have the option to create unlimited audience lists for their Stories posts.

The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has indicated other new features, such as the inclusion of a search function in the view list that will make it easier to determine if a specific person has viewed your story, and “an animated Super Like to react to other people’s posts.”

Regarding pricing, Meta specified that in Mexico it costs 39 pesos. (about 2 euros per month), in Japan it’s 319 yen (approximately 1.75 euros), and in the Philippines it’s 65 Philippine pesos (around one euro).

The popularity of the social network TikTok increases with the passing of days, however, a few months ago the company decided to toughen some of its privacy and use policies, which led it to eliminate more than 6 million accounts during the second mid-2020, because they violated community norms.

This Wednesday, February 24, the digital platform published a global transparency report during the second half of 2020, which details the measures taken by the company in order for its users to comply with the terms of community and use.

Apart from the accounts, TikTok also removed 89,132,938 videos worldwide, since they violate its rules. However, this figure represents less than 1 % of the total content uploaded on the platform.

The report also details that 92.4 % of the videos were deleted before receiving complaints from other users, while 83.53 % were deleted before they had views and 93.5 % were removed during the 24 hours following their publication.

Regarding the 6,144,040 accounts that were eliminated, the company explained that this was due to breaching the platform’s community rules. The social network also deleted 9,499,881 “spam” accounts and 5,225,800 “spam” videos posted by those accounts.
