Google reported that versions of the Chrome browser older than four years will no longer be synchronized. If users do not update the browser, they will start receiving an “error” message.

The notice will tell the Internet user “that they must update to a more recent version to reactivate synchronization and access their account data.”

The Chrome Sync system gives access to “settings and information saved in the browser from different devices through the Google account.” This means that through the system, queries are made for favorites, passwords and extensions “without having to save them again each time Chrome is used.”

If Chrome cannot be updated, it will be impossible to access information stored on other devices or “recover your data if you reinstall the browser”.

With the update, Google is aiming to stabilize the browser, as well as reduce the risk of access by cybercriminals through obsolete versions.
