The executive said in a statement that he will explore the possibility of using decentralized database technology, similar to that used by bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, to improve the “efficiency, transparency and resilience” of financial markets in the United Kingdom.

In this way, the British government considers that stable cryptocurrencies, digital assets whose value is linked to that of traditional currencies such as the US dollar, can offer “efficient payment methods and expand options for consumers.”

In particular, he will assess the potential benefits of using these technologies in the framework of sovereign debt instruments.

“We want to see the businesses of tomorrow, and the jobs they will create, here in the UK. By regulating effectively we can give them the confidence they need to think and invest for the long term,” Sunak said.

In December of last year, the consultant conducted a survey in Argentina, obtaining as a result that the region is ranked 13th out of 27 globally with 15.2 % on par with Mexico.

Finder also analyzed how Argentines build their investment portfolios in crypto. The results, which include just over 2,000 people, showed that bitcoin is the leading asset with 16% of the market, followed by ethereum with 14 % share, and behind dogecoin with 12.9 %. solana and ripple share 11.7 % and 10 % respectively.

One of the most curious data of the study is that in Argentina they do not focus exclusively on Bitcoin since the inhabitants have a tendency to diversify their wallets and not give so much importance to a single cryptocurrency.

In the world, the ownership of cryptocurrencies is dominated by young people. An average of 56.1 % of owners are between 18 and 34 years old. And the case of Argentina it is similar; people between 18 and 34 year olds dominate in terms of owning cryptocurrencies, reaching 66.8 %. While 35-54 year olds are the next most likely group to say they own cryptocurrencies with 19.3 %.

“I must emphasize here the urgency: we don’t have much time left, one or two years. Both in terms of currencies and payments, in Europe we have to move as quickly as possible”, Villeroy said.

According to the manager, the priority of the region should be to prepare a series of rules for this sector, otherwise monetary sovereignty would be at risk.

However, the French made an express request to the EU regarding the adoption of a regulatory framework for the coming months, due to the increased use of cryptocurrencies within regional markets.

In January, the bank completed a pilot program for its own cbdc, subsequently reporting that investors had bought and sold approximately $ 2.4 million at the time, in simulated shares. The Bank of France has said it will carry out further tests of its digital currency this year.

This responds to the current of growth and acceptance of this type of payments, which many companies, banks and payment processors have been implementing.

This Visa pilot program comes from the crypto.com platform, together with those who want to be able to bring this service to their partner portfolio.

It is important to mention that the USD Coin (USDC) is a stablecoin whose value is directly pegged to the dollar.

This is not the first time that a company of this style has done something related to cryptocurrencies. It should be remembered that Mastercard also adopted the use of some digital currencies, as did BlackRock Inc.
