“The initiative comes amid concerns about the United States’ position in international film and television production. Its proponents seek to ensure the country remains a competitive destination for film and television projects compared to other territories that already offer public support.”

If the proposal is approved, it would be combined with the tax credits already offered by the various states. “The proposed legislation suggests that both mechanisms can be combined, which would increase the total public support available for productions that meet the requirements ultimately established by the law.”

If approved by Congress, it would offer “the most generous grant packages in the world for film and television productions. The combination of federal aid with state loans is, therefore, the element that can have the greatest impact on the decision of where future projects are developed.”

Among the domestic objectives is attracting and retaining productions within the United States by directly reducing production costs. The cumulative federal incentive would allow studios and production companies to adjust the economic comparison between filming in different regions.

This is the second time the White House has asked Congress for this reduction in NASA’s science program budget, recalling that the first request was last year but was rejected by lawmakers.

“The proposal comes at a time when NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman is trying to overhaul the country’s space program.” As is known, last month Isaacman announced several changes at the agency, “such as the transition to commercial rockets for lunar launches, accelerating the pace of missions, and establishing a lunar base that will cost US$30 billion over the next decade.”

The White House has also called for the gradual retirement of the Space Launch System rocket, built by Boeing, given its enormous cost and delays, as well as the retirement of Lockheed Martin Corp.’s Orion crew capsule, “which currently carries a crew of four astronauts on a lunar mission, to replace them with commercial alternatives.”

Another measure is a $1 billion cut to the International Space Station, whose decommissioning is planned for 2030.

Since its launch on January 11, the artificial intelligence chatbot led downloads outside China. This has led specialists to focus on possible security vulnerabilities. Adrianus Warmenhoven, cybersecurity specialist at NordVPN, recently said that “DeepSeek, being a Chinese AI startup, operates in a regulatory environment where government oversight of data is strict. This poses potential risks regarding data collection, storage and use.”

Considering that DeepSeek AI could endanger national security, members of the US Congress are pushing for a law to ban its use in government entities.

Only Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google now exceed the market value of Tesla, which appreciated more than 700% during 2020.

Thanks to this, its founder and CEO, Elon Musk, also surpassed Amazon boss Jeff Bezos on Thursday as the richest person in the world, according to the real-time list prepared by Bloomberg.

Musk has seen his fortune multiply over the past year, rising more than $ 150 billion thanks to Tesla’s Wall Street rally, of which he owns about 20% of the share, plus options for worth about $ 42 billion.

Elon Musk is now the richest person in the world, according to the real-time list compiled by Bloomberg

Over the past year, Tesla went from being a company that caused doubts among investors to becoming one of the giants in the market, all despite the fact that it remains a marginal company in terms of production and sales volume.

Despite this, it has managed to be by far the most valuable automaker in the world, benefited by its technological nature, a sector that in recent months has exploded on Wall Street and by its recent inclusion in the S&P 500 index.

During 2020, Tesla managed for the first time to manufacture more than half a million vehicles and increased its sales by 36%.

In the third quarter of the year, the Californian company obtained the best results in its history, with a net profit of 331 million dollars, 218% more than in the same period of 2019, which allowed it to accumulate profits until that date of 435 million dollars in nine months.

There was a triple record

Wall Street closed with gains on Thursday and its three main indicators recorded all-time highs after the US Congress confirmed Joe Biden as president and the Democrats won a majority in the Senate for his victory in Georgia.

According to provisional data at the end of the session on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones of Industrials rose 0.69% or 211.73 points and stood at 31,041.13 integers, a level never seen, driven by large listed companies such as Walgreens (5.18%), Apple (3.41%) and JPMorgan Chase (3.28%).

Also in records, the selective S&P 500 rose 1.48% or 55.65 points, to 3,803.79 units, and the Nasdaq composite index, which brings together the most important technology companies in the market, advanced a solid 2.56% or 326.69 points, up to 13,067.48 units.
