Russia’s parliament has passed a new bill that exempts issuers of cryptocurrencies and digital assets from canceling value-added tax (VAT) on “certain basic taxes.”

The new bill also establishes a “tax rate of 13 % for Russian companies and 15 % for foreign ones on income taxed from digital assets.”

The rule passed the first link to become law. According to the bureaucratic procedures of the Russian state, the legal norms must be approved in the first instance by the parliament in the lower house, then they must be discussed and sanctioned by the upper house and later be endorsed by the president of the republic.

With the approval of the project, it constitutes a transformation in the way of seeing digital assets by the government of Vladimir Putin, who are approaching cryptocurrencies as a consequence of the economic situation resulting from the war with Ukraine.

As it will remember, the Central Bank of Russia at the beginning of the year tried to implement a “general prohibition” of digital currencies in the country. And although the proposal was not accepted, the financial entity considers that cryptocurrencies “potentially increase the financial instability of Russian citizens.”

The lower house of the German Parliament, the Bundestag, today approved a bill that will give residents of the country the right to demand better fixed-line Internet connections from mid-2022.

The measure, which won the votes of the coalition of the conservative CDU / CSU alliance and the Social Democratic Party (SPD), has yet to be approved by the Upper House (Bundesrat).

According to the bill, minimum specifications will be established for the unloading and loading of material, as well as the response time. However, the actual specifications still need to be calculated.

For downloads, we speak of 30 megabits (Mbit) per second as a reference, but the actual binding level is likely to be less than 20 Mbit. It is expected to increase over the years.

The right to a fast Internet is especially important for the inhabitants of some rural areas and the periphery of cities, where up to now the deployment of networks has been very poor.

This morning, a new budget resolution for an amount of 1.9 trillion dollars was approved from the US Senate, which will be used to solve the impact generated by the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Between Democratic and Republican senators, the proposal will be elevated to the House of Representatives, something that is considered “a gigantic step”, as indicated the head of the Democratic front, Chuck Schuler, in New York.

As specified in the resolution, it authorizes a law to solve the impact of the pandemic by the financial resources requested. The proposal also includes instructions for congressional committees to draft the legislation.

For the distribution of this stimulus, it is planned to grant checks of 1,400 dollars to taxpayers, a weekly unemployment benefit of 400 dollars, and 350,000 million dollars to help state and municipal governments.

An increase in the minimum wage to $ 15 per hour, and more funds for child care, schools and the distribution of vaccines are expected.
