In early December, BPCE launched its pilot program with two million customers for cryptocurrency trading, specifically Bitcoin and Ethereum.

According to the bank, this is the first step towards full opening in 2026. The plan involves customers of four regional banks, including Banque Populaire Île-de-France and Caisse d’Épargne Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

With this initiative, the bank becomes one of the first major traditional players to natively integrate crypto trading into its mobile applications. The offering provides access to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and USDC for approximately two million users, who will be able to trade without relying on external platforms. The system operates through a separate digital asset account managed by Hexarq, the group’s crypto subsidiary.

The bank has a portfolio of 12 million retail clients. The trial aims to gauge the public’s actual interest in crypto trading.

BPCE’s new offering demonstrates its positioning as one of the best-prepared players in the region.
