Ubisoft will continue to develop games classified as ‘Triple A‘ but its efforts to increase the audience will be directed to the free titles (free to play) of its main franchises.

This week, the company presented the financial results corresponding to the closing of its fiscal year, which ended in March. During the meeting, the head of Finance, Frederick Duguet, commented on the development and launch strategy, in which the Triple A is maintained but also seeks to promote free games.

Specifically, Duguet noted that the launch of three or four ‘Triple A’ games per year “is no longer an adequate indication of the dynamics of value creation” of the company. Although they will maintain the premium and free launches, the objective they have set is to increase the audience, and for this they will focus on the free entry games.

These types of games usually include in-app purchases, compared to premium titles that are usually one-time payment to play. However, the manager indicated that they are “building high-end free games to have a trend towards ambitious ‘Triple A’ in the long term.”
