Meta launched the pilot program for Instagram Plus, the paid version of its social network, in Mexico, Japan, and the Philippines, at a cost of just over one euro.

According to the parent company, this service was originally aimed at content creators and online personalities, “but now Meta also hopes to attract other users with a cheaper subscription and different features that it has already begun testing in some regions.

The monthly fee will offer improvements to Stories. In this regard, “subscribers to the new service will be able to view other people’s stories anonymously, without the author knowing they have been viewed.”

Additionally, it will be possible to see how many people have reviewed one of their stories, extend its duration by 24 hours, or feature them once a week so they appear at the top of their followers’ Stories feeds.

Paid users will have the option to create unlimited audience lists for their Stories posts.

The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has indicated other new features, such as the inclusion of a search function in the view list that will make it easier to determine if a specific person has viewed your story, and “an animated Super Like to react to other people’s posts.”

Regarding pricing, Meta specified that in Mexico it costs 39 pesos. (about 2 euros per month), in Japan it’s 319 yen (approximately 1.75 euros), and in the Philippines it’s 65 Philippine pesos (around one euro).

Microsoft is starting to roll out a new Android app called Outlook Lite, which promises to keep the essential features of the standard version of this messaging service, and offer them in a fast and optimized format.

The company announced this alternative to the official application in early July, when it specified that this version would be suitable for “low-end devices and any network” through its website.

Now, Microsoft has integrated this application in the Android application store, where it is already available for download in some countries, as TechCrunch has advanced.

At the moment, only users from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, India, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and Venezuela will be able to access this service.

However, the company has indicated to this medium that it will consider adding more countries with access to Microsoft Outlook Lite to this list in the future, among which Spain could be found.

As detailed in the Play Store, this email service works with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Hotmail, Live and MSN.

Also, the app is about 5MB in download size and uses little phone storage. It is optimized to run fast on all devices, including those with 1 GB of RAM.

To download this version, the first of the service, it is necessary to have Android version 5.1 or later updates of the operating system installed on the smartphone.

Novi is the digital wallet service that allows you to send and receive cryptocurrency payments through a messaging app chat. These payments are made with Pax Dollars, a cryptocurrency pegged to the dollar.

The company launched the application in a trial period in both the United States and Guatemala in October 2021. Shortly after, it expanded the reach of the app by allowing payments with cryptocurrencies also through WhatsApp.

Now, the company announced through its help page that its pilot program is coming to an end. Specifically, both its app and its presence on WhatsApp will no longer be available as of September 1.

In addition to announcing the end date of this service, Meta indicated as of July 21st, customers will not be able to add money to their respective Novi accounts.

In the statement, they say once this period ends the user will not be able to log in or access their Novi account.

This has been reported by the specialized portal WABetaInfo, which has noticed the novelty in the code of the latest betas of the application, although at the moment the feature is under development and is not operational.

Two-step verification allows users who register for their accounts to receive a six-digit PIN code on their mobile phones to confirm their identity and prevent malicious access and potential attacks.

Greater security for WhatsApp users

The app is now testing ways to introduce two-factor authentication control to WhatsApp Web and its desktop app as well in future updates to the service.

WABetaInfo has noticed the presence of a settings screen in the WhatsApp desktop ‘app’ that allows you to configure two-step verification, and that makes it possible to deactivate it, change the PIN or modify the recovery email.
