Repeat offenses will be penalized with a €20,000 fine, and in extreme cases, authorities may ban travelers from flying for up to four years.

The measure was adopted to curb inappropriate behavior on aircraft, which is considered “a growing threat to passengers and flight crew.”

Among the grounds for fines are refusing to turn off cell phones during flights when cabin crew have prohibited their use for the entire flight or during any phase thereof; obstructing “the performance of safety duties by flight crew”; and, finally, “refusal to comply with safety instructions given by flight personnel.”

The decree applies to flights operated by airlines licensed in France. “The system implements a specific database that will be managed by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC), with the function of centralizing reports of disruptive behavior submitted by French airlines.”

It is important to clarify that “these administrative sanctions are in addition to the possibility of initiating criminal proceedings for the most serious offenses, which can carry prison sentences of up to five years and fines of €75,000.”

This means that citizens of visa-exempt countries will continue to enter the continent without prior authorization until 2026.

It is important to remember that, eventually, “the ETIAS will be mandatory, will cost €7 per application, and will be valid for three years. During this period, multiple stays of up to 90 days in Europe will be permitted.”

This update was expected to take effect this year. However, the European Union expects its implementation by the last quarter of 2026.

ETIAS “will be a mandatory entry requirement for citizens traveling to Europe” from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

To apply for ETIAS, citizens must visit the official European Union website, where they will be asked to fill out forms with information such as their first and last name, passport number, issue and expiration dates, and contact information, including a valid email address. Travel details and information on health and criminal records will also be displayed.

It’s important to know that the ETIAS is valid only for travel to any country in the Schengen Area for tourism, transit, and business purposes. “Given that it authorizes unlimited entry for up to 90 days, it cannot be used for work or long-term studies.”

The authorities seek to deepen controls on crimes such as money laundering, with new controls, such as fines of $500,000 and up to 10 years in prison for those who do not comply with the new financial transparency regulations.

The measure has been announced by officials of the Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP), an entity that “requires that any traveler who exceeds the limit of 10,000 dollars make an official declaration. This can be done through several methods, including specific forms provided by customs authorities. One of them is the CBP Form 6059B.”

The regulation applies to “coins or bills from the United States or another country, traveler’s checks of any type; all negotiable instruments (personal, commercial, official bank, cashier’s, third-party checks, promissory notes and money orders) that are in the name of the bearer, endorsed without restrictions, in the name of a fictitious beneficiary, or otherwise, in such a way that the title is transferred at the time of delivery.”

It is also applicable to “incomplete instruments (personal, commercial, official bank, cashier’s, third-party checks, promissory notes and money orders) signed, but with the name of the beneficiary omitted; securities or shares in bearer form or otherwise, such that title is transferred to them at the time of delivery.”

The declaration to enter or leave the US with the aforementioned sum in cash or a larger combination of monetary instruments may be made using Form FinCEN 105, which the interested party must print and deliver to the Customs and Border Protection agent upon entering or leaving the US. Also, by completing and sending the FinCEN Form online at least three days in advance of the trip.

As of this Sunday, China will not require a quarantine period for people arriving in the country, but it will continue to require a negative Covid-19 test carried out in the last 48 hours.

At this time, a wave of Chinese residents is expected to return to the country on their way home. Thus, the first preparations for the reopening of the borders of the Asian country have been seen.

According to the Chinese newspaper Global Times, the authorities have intensified their efforts at the borders of the city of Shenzhen pending the reopening with the neighboring region of Hong Kong, which has included carrying out drills, examining of the equipment and decoration of the stalls that will welcome the expected influx of passengers.

Covid-19 tests for passengers from China

On the other hand, the explosion of Covid-19 cases in China, derived from the withdrawal of most of the restrictions imposed throughout the pandemic, has generated concern worldwide, leading countries around the world to impose new controls. for travelers from the Asian giant.

Thus, as China has begun to relax its restrictions, a greater number of countries have joined these weeks in requesting negative tests for travelers from China.

In this sense, Spain may deny entry to third-country nationals arriving through direct flights from any airport located in China from this week until February 15 if they do not provide a digital EU Covid Certificate or equivalent or negative diagnostic tests. based on public health reasons, according to a resolution on restrictions at foreign air borders of the Ministry of the Interior published this Wednesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE).

Similarly, at an urgently called meeting of the European Union’s Health Security Committee (HSC) in late December, EU member states agreed to maintain “active surveillance” in the face of the apparent explosion of coronavirus infections. in China, and from which came the commitment to keep in touch to examine possible joint initiatives.
