Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has stated that his main challenge is to be among the world’s 30 largest economies and to rank third within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by 2030.

To achieve this, the government of Vietnam aims to “achieve average annual economic growth of 10% or more during the period 2026-2030, one of the most ambitious goals in Asia,” according to Xinhua News Agency.

On the other hand, they estimate that per capita GDP will reach around $8,500 by the end of the decade, which would translate into a significant improvement in the population’s standard of living.

According to the Vietnamese National Bureau of Statistics, “the country’s GDP grew 7.85% year-on-year during the first nine months of 2025, demonstrating a solid performance that supports official projections.”
