The United States government is reportedly considering restrictions or even banning the import of Chinese drones and heavy-duty vehicles due to national security concerns.

The Trump administration previously launched a crackdown on cars and trucks, citing national security concerns. Now, the Department of Commerce has outlined plans to “issue regulations as early as this month to address national security risks related to information and communications technologies critical to drones and their supply chain, as well as vehicles over 10,000 pounds from countries like China and other foreign adversaries.”

It’s important to note that imports from the Asian country “represent the vast majority of commercial drone sales in the United States. More than half come from DJI, the world’s largest drone manufacturer.”

The new restrictive measures related to drones and heavy vehicles from China are in addition to others already planned for imports of cars and other trucks.
