Citizens of China enjoy the fastest Internet connection in the world, with a speed of 1.2 terabits per second.

The Asian nation has made profound progress, particularly in the use of fiber optics through a network of more than 3,000 kilometers between Beijing and the cities of Wuhan and Canton.

The initial forecasts to reach 1 terabite per second had been set for 2025. Fortunately, the results were obtained earlier than expected. With this, they advance in the search for alternatives to dependence on the US and Japan for some components of network technology.

Those responsible for this network have assured that all the software and hardware of the system is of national production.

This network has been operational since July, providing residents with the highest connection speed. According to the vice president of Huawei Technologies, Wang Lei, this infrastructure allows the transfer of “the equivalent of 150 high-definition movies in just one second.”

Similarly, expert Xu Mingwei from the Tsinghua University, indicated that the speed of the Internet network can be compared to “an ultra-fast train track that replaced 10 regular tracks to transport the same amount of data. This made it much cheaper and easier to manage.”
