This Sunday, the new device from Elon Musk’s company Neuralink, called Telepathy, was implanted for the first time in a human.

Musk indicated this Sunday on his account on the social network X that the patient was recovering satisfactorily. Likewise, he stated that the brain chip will help patients who have lost the mobility of their limbs, by sending signals to and from the brain.

Telepathy is an extremely small, non-intrusive, hair-sized chip made up of 1,024 electrodes that uses wireless technology to transmit signals in real time.

This is the surgical intervention for the chip implantation, just nine months after Neuralink obtained permission from the authorities in the United States.

As detailed by Musk, “the function of the chip will be to ‘read’ neuronal activity and help restore brain functions that have been damaged as a result of a heart attack or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,” among others.

The first human received an implant from @Neuralink yesterday and is recovering well.

Initial results show promising neuron spike detection.
