The organization referred to the “excessive” taxes, the exchange rate gap, and the lack of available foreign currency and financing as obstacles to growth. However, he highlighted that “Venezuela’s private manufacturing output increased by 5.4 % last year compared to 2024, and the industrial sector projects 12.7 % growth by 2026.”

Furthermore, production in the country increased by 6.8 % in the first quarter; 0.1 % in the second; 5.2 % in the third; and 9.5 % in the fourth quarter of last year.

Tito López, president of Conindustria, indicated that the figures obtained so far demonstrate that Venezuelan industry remains strong, “investing, producing, and generating employment.”

Regarding the investment needed to revitalize the country’s industry, López stated that $3.4 billion is required.

Capozzolo said in an interview with the program Dos más Dos on Unión Radio that they hope their proposal will be considered by government authorities. He also emphasized that, regarding communication with the Executive branch, “there must be fluid relations to address difficult issues” and make progress on matters such as energy, public services, electricity, financing, inflation, and taxes paid by the private sector.

According to Capozzolo, it is essential to review the conditions of tax and parafiscal obligations in the country, considering that businesses want access to “digital assets, to create more jobs, generate exportable goods, penetrate new markets, and this would require building agreements, and this must be done directly with the national government.”

In this way, according to the executive, companies commit to generating 70 % of jobs and 50 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in non-oil goods.

The United States tariffs are expected to have a strong impact on supply chains. Given this, companies in strategic sectors in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia have decided to advance purchases and fill their stocks to the maximum.

These nations are looking for a quick way to adapt to developments in global trade. “Companies are rushing to import everything they can,” Alejandro Arroyo Welbers, director of the International Trade and Regional Economies Program at Austral University in Argentina, told Bloomberg Línea.

According to the professor, companies are now “taking action to avoid impacts on the supply chain. Ports in China such as Shanghai, Ningbo, Shenzhen, and Qingdao are completely congested, just like in 2021,” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump’s taxes are causing freight costs to escalate, both ocean and air, generating a chain of increases in final prices globally.

The new trade scenario is forcing companies to “value having an inventory filled to the rafters and even building one next door just in case, because the future is very uncertain.”

M.Pino

She cited the exchange rate differential as the main cause of this, adding that “movement is minimal, and this impacts the entire production chain.”

On the other hand, she highlighted the current problems facing the business sector, marked by “high tax rates that encourage informality and business closures.” As a result of high taxes that leave no room for profit, businesses are considering abandoning formality or closing.

Polesel also mentioned other reasons for this slow and stagnant context, such as deficiencies in the provision of basic public services, which lead to increased operating costs for businesses and companies, which are impossible to reflect in final products due to low demand.

The second vice president of Fedecámaras emphasized “the implementation of the Tax Harmonization Law, noting that most municipalities set their taxes at the maximum limit, without considering whether these rates are viable for taxpayers, generating unmanageable increases.”

The objective of the Taiwanese government is to facilitate the adaptation of companies to this new scenario, with tariffs on imports, so that their operations are not severely affected.

The announcement states: “In light of the fact that the United States has imposed additional tariffs on Canada, Mexico and other countries, which has affected the overseas operations of some Taiwanese manufacturers, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has initiated a series of response measures.”

The strategy is aimed at making it easier for companies to adjust their supply chains and investment strategies. In this regard, “the Ministry has announced that it will offer customized services to manufacturers for overseas distribution, as well as relevant information on target markets for Taiwanese companies intending to relocate abroad.”

Companies wishing to move to the United States to open factories or transfer production processes to this or another country, including India, will receive information on “state and local investment laws in the United States, as well as opportunities in related markets and assistance in finding partners.”
