Consumers have official channels of the National Superintendency for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights (Sundde) throughout Venezuela to report charges in businesses that do not comply with the official dollar exchange rate published by the Central Bank.

The citizen service channels are both in person, at the agency’s offices, and online. They also have the telephone number 0800-LOJUSTO (0800-5658786) for these procedures.

To file a complaint, Sundde recommends gathering all the necessary information truthfully: the name and address of the establishment and a description of the case. You should then file the complaint at the offices deployed throughout the country, by phone, or through the Sundde website: https://www.sundde.gob.ve/, where you can track the case, as well as by calling 0800-LOJUSTO (0800-5658786).

The “National Plan for Verification of Compliance with the BCV Exchange Rate” will be implemented in all businesses across the country, Sundde announced on its Instagram account, emphasizing that the goal is to protect the rights of Venezuelans.

According to the agency, checkpoints will be set up near businesses to assist citizens who wish to report irregularities in the prices of goods and services, as well as crimes related to non-compliance with exchange regulations in national commerce.

The officials of the National Superintendency for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights (Sundde) continue to monitor compliance in the collection of the official exchange rate established by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) in the different businesses of the country.

Through a press release issued by the Ministry of National Commerce, Sundde officials supervise that the owners of businesses dedicated to the sale of food and supplies apply the BCV exchange rate in transactions.

The superintendency remains vigilant to guarantee the socioeconomic rights of the people, in addition to promoting information about the Organic Law of Fair Prices (LOPJ) and its compliance among merchants.

On the other hand, the Sundde has informed business owners about the consequences of non-compliance with the LOPJ while promoting fair trade and reinforcing the BCV’s exchange regulations.

The superintendency has also called on citizens to make any complaints they consider relevant in these cases through the number 0800-LOJUSTO (5658786) or the Sundde website: https://www.sundde.gob.ve/.

The National Superintendency for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights of Venezuela, together with the Ministry of Commerce, is testing the Price Inspection System application, to verify the cost and quality of products in stores in real time.

According to the official state channel, VTV, it is an application for the mobile phones of Sundde inspectors, which facilitates the daily work that involves verifying that businesses apply the prices established by the government.

“This innovative technological system allows the collection of information in real time on prices, quality controls and compliance with sanitary permits in commercial establishments in the country to combat the scourge of smuggling that affects national production and the country’s economy”, indicates the radio broadcast RadioMundial.

The Minister of National Commerce, Colonel Antonio Morales, has indicated that this software also makes it possible to identify irregularities and discrepancies in the national market, as well as any element of disturbance in the price chain.

Morales stressed that “with this application the Ministry of National Commerce automates the control mechanisms for a more expeditious work of the national prosecutors, accelerating the response time for the supervision of the cost structures in the items and thus energize the new automated model procedures carried out by the Bolivarian Government”.

The National Superintendency for the Defense of Socioeconomic Rights (Sundde) published, on Thursday, December 1st, a new “list of maximum consumer prices in prioritized items” in dollars.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, he reported that “as a result of the dialogue tables with the productive agri-food sector, we were able to agree on maximum prices for the final consumer in some prioritized items.”

The prices will be governed by the official rate of the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV), as reported by the bank, among which are: natural canned tuna at (1.18 dollars), 1 kilo pork rib (7.50 dollars), one kilo special bologna (4 dollars), 850 milliliters of edible palm oil (2.75 dollars), 850 milliliters of edible vegetable oil (3.2 dollars), 1 kilo of precooked cornmeal (1.20 dollars), wheat 1 kilo (1.30 dollars), pasta 1 kilo (1.50 dollars), white table rice 1 kilo (1.20 dollars), refined sugar 1 kilo (1.25 dollars).

This measure had not been implemented in the country between 2015 and 2018, a period in which Venezuela experienced serious shortages.
