For Sergio Saggese, Executive Director of Technology, Processes, and Information Security at Bancamiga, digital transformation is a change in business models and a necessity to compete in today’s markets. However, the accelerated pace of digital transformation has broadened the scope of exposure to cyberattacks. These attacks are perpetrated in a highly sophisticated manner, primarily aimed at blocking critical operations to demand ransoms, using techniques that employ Artificial Intelligence to emulate voices or legitimate banking platforms.

During the conference “Managing the Digital Age: Cybersecurity Implications for Businesses,” delivered this Wednesday to students at Monteávila University, Saggese stated that attacks occur daily and companies must protect themselves. It is essential to understand that there are threats and what those threats are.

“Cybercrime takes advantage of human error, whether by action or omission, misconfigurations, and vulnerable code. There are targeted attacks that utilize third-party connections and interconnected devices, which serve as entry points to internal networks. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link,” he indicated.

He expressed that digital transformation is inevitable to offer agile, personalized, and competitive services that are securely structured from the design stage on four pillars: cloud adoption, AI, the Internet of Things, and data analytics.

For Bancamiga’s CEO, Sergio Saggese, the question today isn’t “whether we will be attacked,” but rather “how quickly will we detect, respond to, and recover from an attempted attack?”

To protect an organization, it’s necessary to shift from a reactive approach to a proactive and defensive stance. The starting point should be “never trust, always verify.” Every access request, whether from inside or outside the network, must be constantly authenticated, authorized, and validated. Continuous training for employees and partners, with content tailored to the customer experience, is also key. It’s essential to strengthen monitoring capabilities and prepare for the moment of an attack.

Saggese maintained that there must be a comprehensive and holistic process for managing cybersecurity, and this is where the focus on cyber resilience —an organization’s ability to anticipate, resist, confront, and recover from adverse cyberattacks— becomes crucial.

“It’s about strengthening the company’s capacity to resist and respond. Cybersecurity isn’t just about resisting, but about navigating the storm.”

The conference attendees, mostly first-year engineering students, expressed their gratitude with words and applause for the concepts presented by Saggese, recognizing their contribution to their holistic development.

The Emergency Medical Aid Provider Diploma, taught and designed by the Venemergencia Foundation in partnership with the Andrés Bello Catholic University and the International Center for Professional Development (CIAP), graduated its first cohort of healthcare professionals with certified first aid training. different types of medical emergencies and urgencies. This Diploma for the Training of Emergency Medical Assistance Providers (PAME) was the first major project of the Venemergencia Foundation with a curriculum that, combining the best of American and European experience, allows paramedics to certify their knowledge, often empirical, in addition to ensuring the excellence of their performance and allowing them to opt for better career options and an improvement in their quality of life.

In partnership and collaboration with UCAB’s CIAP (Center for Advanced Medical Training and Training), PAME is being expanded, developed, and strengthened as the only diploma in prehospital health created and implemented by a private institution and, as of 2025, is endorsed by the National Academy of Medicine. PAME has become an educational benchmark, with students including doctors, nurses, paramedics, firefighters, nutritionists, and students from these and other healthcare disciplines.

Inflation has impacted or will negatively impact the cost of the school year for Spaniards, who will spend an average of 419 euros per child, although they see digital tools as a way to save between 11 % and 30 %.

Compared to last year, an increase in the average cost per child of 94.84 euros is perceived. The autonomous communities most affected by inflation are Asturias, Canarias, Aragón, Castilla y León and the Community of Madrid. This is how a recent survey carried out by the GoStudent private class platform collects it.

53 % of Spaniards allocate between 11 % and 30 % of their salary to expenses related to going back to school and consider that the use of digital tools can help minimize this expense: 43 % of parents in our country think that, for example, e-books or online tutoring could help them save considerably.

On the other hand, those surveyed affirm that this year the cost per child will rise to 419 euros on average compared to 324 euros the previous year, which represents an increase of almost 30 %. The great part of this expense comes from the purchase of books and school supplies, uniforms as well as extracurricular and support activities (73 % of Spanish parents have enrolled their children in private classes at least once and 52 % are considering it) for the new course.

Another of the noteworthy aspects of the study is that 72 % consider private online classes as a good way to save resources, thanks to their flexible nature and variety of schedules. And, more specifically, almost 50 % of those surveyed affirm that the use of private online classes will help save on their children’s academic training during this course.

New technologies stand out in the educational sector

The students that today are found in primary and secondary classrooms are digital natives and for this reason the educational sector is adopting new technologies to incorporate new ways of teaching through video games, artificial intelligence (AI) or computer science virtual reality.

The applications of technologies such as AI allow the creation of personalized educational plans for each student based on the profile and needs of each student. In Spain, 23 % of schools have adaptive learning tools. In addition, ‘online’ tutorials already account for 14 % of the total number of private classes that take place every day.

According to the GoStudent Education Report, Spanish parents have the best opinion about adaptive learning and the use of artificial intelligence in education. 55 % welcome these technologies taking part in their children’s education.

The civil association Opción Venezuela will present this coming June 8 the results of its Educational Network for Sustainable Entrepreneurship program. Its execution is possible thanks to the Social Investment Fund, the flagship program of Venezuela sin Límites, which has promoted high-impact projects for more than 17 years.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4, Quality Education, Option Venezuela has launched this project that seeks to offer answers to: the deficit of teachers and teachers, they’re outdated and the low proportion of teachers with qualifications minimum required in digital skills, vocational guidance, employment promotion, decent work, entrepreneurship, sustainable development, among others (target and indicator of SDG 4.4); as well as the low degree of incorporation of education for sustainable development, including gender equality and human rights in curricula, teacher training and student assessment (target – SDG indicator 4.7) .

In response, the Educational Network for Sustainable Entrepreneurship was born, a proposal for raising awareness and training available for teachers and students in matters of life purpose, entrepreneurship and sustainability, which has more than 150 testimonials from Venezuelan entrepreneurs, who thanks to the power of their stories (storytelling), provides value and inspiration to the participants of these training experiences.

A methodology of sustainable options for Venezuela

The program was carried out in three phases: in the first, a training design for raising awareness and training in skills for sustainable entrepreneurship was created, with workshops on life projects, entrepreneurship and sustainability, as well as sharing inspiring testimonies. In the second, promoters were trained in the three key issues who became the replicators of these contents among adolescents and young people.

In the third, they carried out more than 30 workshops in 11 states of the country (Aragua, Bolívar, Carabobo, Capital District, Lara, Miranda, Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Yaracuy, Táchira and Zulia), beginning the formation of a network of more than 600 young people and adults, between 15 and 24 years old, who attend schools, high schools, universities or are linked to youth organizations, who from now on will begin to incorporate notions of sustainable entrepreneurship into their professional practice, in a world that increasingly demand.

The initiative is driven by the potential of the network of facilitators and promoters that Option Venezuela has been weaving in more than 10 states of the country, as well as the wealth of testimonies, content and tools for Venezuela and its young people to seek to move from the “disappointment” and “resentment” at the ambition to undertake sustainable options for the future. “It motivates us to bet on the construction of a productive, supportive and sustainable country. Productive that stimulates manufacturing instead of selling raw materials (oil, minerals); in solidarity with the victims of the complex humanitarian emergency and those who are not yet being strengthened in their capacities to be able to live autonomously and entrepreneurially in Venezuela; sustainable since it is a priority to promote a development model that is committed not only to economic growth, but also promotes solutions that reverse global warming and also generates a positive impact on people”, said Félix Ríos, Co-Founder and President of Option Venezuela AC.

Opción Venezuela empowers responsible leaders

Option Venezuela, which this year will reach two decades of work, has been inspired by the purpose of empowering responsible leaders, from schools, communities, companies, among other collective spaces, so that through their undertakings and initiatives build “the world you want in the world you have.”

With this proposal, a network experience is promoted that offers young Venezuelans a space for reflection on their life purpose, the possibility of undertaking, in addition to incorporating the vision of sustainability. “It is also inspiring for the workshop participants to show them the stories of Venezuelans, talented people who make a difference, inside and outside our borders, who reinvent themselves in the face of difficulties, are resilient personally and from their most varied initiatives” Rivers shares.
