The training session was led by Claudia Valladares, president and co-founder of Impact Hub Caracas, an internationally recognized expert in the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The speaker focused on bridging the gap between Artificial Intelligence (AI) theory and its practical, tangible application in today’s market.

The facilitator successfully guided over 400 participants not only in understanding fundamental concepts, but also in connecting AI’s potential to the realities of their respective work areas. The presentation generated significant interest due to its transformative capacity, inspiring attendees to actively seek innovations based on the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and to strategically integrate them into their daily operations.

During the session, which was held both in person and online, “practical innovation case studies were highlighted, illustrating how AI is redefining sectors and providing the audience with concrete examples” of disruption and growth, explained Claudia Valladares.

The celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2025 with a masterclass to foster innovation and the use of technology aligns with Bancamiga’s vision of providing Venezuelans with cutting-edge tools so their projects not only take off but also remain competitive and sustainable over time.

High-impact masterclass

At the end of the event, microentrepreneur Blenny Castro described the class as “spectacular” and admitted that she wants to incorporate some AI tools into her business: “to respond more quickly to customers and have the right answers.”

“I’m a telecommunications engineer, and although I’ve attended technology and artificial intelligence events recently, this class updated me; I really enjoyed it,” commented Cristian Villar.

With this training initiative, Bancamiga reaffirmed its role as a strategic partner of the entrepreneurial community, promoting spaces that foster training and connection with the technological trends shaping the future of business.

Every November, organizations in 200 countries come together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, a campaign to inspire people with business initiatives through activities, contests, and events to boost entrepreneurship.

The event, which connected more than 200 participants from across the country, was facilitated by Mauricio Parilli, director of Aprendo y Emprendo.

The main objective of the forum was to continue training Venezuelan entrepreneurs and to raise awareness among participants about the business opportunities available for older adults, dispelling the myth that age is a barrier to entrepreneurship, emphasized Milagro González, Director of Social Responsibility at Bancamiga.

During his presentation, Parilli pointed out that although older people often face employment discrimination due to their age, they represent a market niche with specific consumer needs.

He explained that there is a global trend where older people are no longer seen as a burden, but rather as a generation that consumes, has particular needs, and can be self-employed.

The expert stressed the importance of a mindset shift to understand and capitalize on this segment of the population, which impacts the so-called “silver economy.”

Broad opportunities with Bancamiga

The silver economy, Parilli explained, presents the challenge of developing products and services adapted to the consumption habits and needs of older adults, to improve their quality of life, fostering employment and economic independence.

“The most important thing is to understand the shift in mindset and narrative. The new narrative is called ‘new longevity,’ and it establishes that we are going to have longer life expectancies. Therefore, we are entering the world of the silver economy, where age barriers are being broken down, and we are starting to have a dynamic population with increasingly significant purchasing power,” he emphasized.

Parilli pointed out that in Venezuela, 19 % of the population is over 55 years old. This segment represents more than five million people who require products and services tailored to their needs. Furthermore, this population is also capable of offering products and services themselves, leveraging their accumulated life experience.

According to the expert, 55 % of older adults feel that companies do not offer products or services specifically for them, and 61 % identify that the areas of health and well-being have the greatest gap in offerings for this segment of the population.

With the virtual forum “Entrepreneurship After 50,” Bancamiga reaffirms its commitment to economic development and social inclusion, offering tools and knowledge that empower Venezuelan entrepreneurs.

The ECB had been working on this project with the aim of “assessing its feasibility and functionality before its possible official implementation” for digital transactions in the eurozone.

Following the call for proposals for this application in October 2024, working groups were formed to analyze aspects such as automatic transactions, technical support, access to financial services for the unbanked, and the necessary digital devices.

One of the proposals they are considering is “the possibility of opening digital wallets in post offices, which would ensure that any citizen can use the digital euro without the need for traditional banking infrastructure.”

At a crucial roundtable during the conference, studies focused on blockchain functions analysed the challenges associated with integrating this technology into games. The discussion included crucial issues such as acceptance by developers, players and editors.

Redcatpig, a leading Web3 study specializing in the development of blockchain functions, shared its experiences and obstacles at the roundtable. Marco Bettencourt, CEO of Redcatpig, highlighted the difficulty of communicating internally to convey the enormous advantage that blockchain technology can bring to gamers and improve games.

Despite the challenges, Redcatpig is immersed in creating blockchain-based gaming solutions. Its first release, HoverShock, will hit the market in 2024 and will feature skins and drones based on non-expendable tokens, available for exchange in an in-game market, purchaseable with cash or cryptocurrencies.

The study adopted a unique perspective, avoiding the trends associated with blockchain technology. Bettencourt stressed: “Players don’t need to know the buzzwords. The only thing they need to know is that when they buy a skin, they own it and can sell it whenever they want.”

In addition, the integration of blockchain into game development has generated some controversy. VEU, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in AI-based solutions for virtual environments, faced criticism from its own community for the introduction of blockchain technology.

Nuno Rivotti, Head of Product at VEU, commented on the situation: “Players just need to perceive the product, they don’t need to understand the technology. I think the industry needs to take that turn, similar to how other technologies were accepted when they stopped being a topic of conversation.”

Despite the adverse reactions, game developers in Portugal continue with blockchain integration, backed by the eGames Lab. This consortium, made up of 22 public and private entities, is committed to supporting the video game industry in its internationalization, turning blockchain technology into a key innovation for the government’s product lines and investment strategies.

Pedro Dominguinhos, President of the National Commission for the Follow-up of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) of Portugal, said: “As part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, there is a specific agenda for blockchain, which includes training, research and development, software production and marketing.”

Despite the fact that the figure is 47 % lower than that of 2021, this year has been classified as “strange” due to the circumstances presented by the pandemic.

The director of Endeavor’s Intelligence team, Enrico Robles del Río, mentioned that despite the fact that 2022 has been a difficult year for entrepreneurs, it has been the second record number in the last decade. In turn, he emphasized that, although there has been a decrease of 47 %, if compared worldwide, the figure has been 42 %, which means that Latin America follows the same trend.

On the other hand, Vincent Speranza, general director at Endeavor Mexico, highlighted that the reduction in investment in terms of capital is less due to the “cautious” mentality of the financing funds. This is due to the complicated landscape of high interest rates and forecasts of a global recession.

The study also revealed that Mexico and Brazil lead investments with 75% of the total capital deployed in the region. Robles del Río mentioned that, including Colombia, the three nations received 90 % of the total venture capital allocated to startups in Latin America during 2022.

Regarding the focus on investment, the report presented by Endeavor highlights that 41 % of the capital allocated to startups went to companies in their first phase of development, which meant an increase of 9 % compared to 2021. Startups focused on “cleantech” (technologies for clean sources), “gaming” (the video game market) and “legaltech” (those mainly dedicated to facilitating and optimizing the processes of small and medium-sized companies) were the main beneficiaries in 2022.

They offer groundbreaking designs, music, the most advanced machines of the moment, nutritional advice and even art.

Ramos undertook in Madrid

Sergio Ramos, the former captain of Real Madrid, now at PSG, promotes his new business in the Spanish capital, a chain of gyms that comes to Spain through the German firm John Reed. The company has already incorporated the company, Sergio Ramos by John Reed. The space and premises are located in a basement, next to a Madrid metro stop. It is a formula that McFIT already tested in 2017, when it launched a club at the Nuevos Ministerios station. John Reed is one of the 17 brands belonging to the RSG Group, a world leader in the fitness sector with 6.4 million clients between its gyms and its virtual training platform.

Ramos opted for the rapprochement between exercises and art

They are famous for their groundbreaking decoration -with a surprising commitment to music and art- and they have clubs in European countries such as Germany, Austria, Poland, the United Kingdom or Italy and also in the United States.

McFIT launched John Reed Fitness in 2016 with the aim of mixing sport with live music and an urban and extravagant aesthetic far removed from that which identifies conventional gyms.

These impressive gyms, very much in line with the personality of Sergio Ramos, turn training hand in hand with the practice of exercise routines into an experience. They feature innovative training options, extraordinary design elements from around the world, live DJs and exclusive events for their members. No two John Reed clubs are the same.

Bale invested in London

In 2019, former Real Madrid striker Gareth Bale became one of the shareholders in the Rowbots project, a boutique gym brand specializing in rowing, which made its London debut that same year. Rowbots’ first boutique gym opened that year in the London suburb of Fitzrovia with state-of-the-art workouts.

Two years later, in 2021, he opened his second gym in the same city. Both centers are less than 1,000 square meters and offer 50-minute sessions.

Another of the investors behind this project is the triathlete, sales and marketing expert, Greg Zimmerman.

The gym brand and project opened its second gym in the UK capital

With 45-minute classes, burning up to 800 calories, they involve instructors who train participants in “mental endurance” techniques: from shorter rounds based on strength, to longer endurance work to improve results. Zoe Aston, a psychotherapist who developed the applied mental health training at Rowbots, emphasizes the need for clients to feel “safe, challenged and responsible” and therefore “able to perform at full power”.

Incorporating “mental health goals” is a crucial aspect of modern sports science, Bale has been saying, which is why Rowbots CEO Sam Green recruited him.

Beckham, worldwide and in the UK

David Beckham was another of those who was encouraged to invest in the F45 Training studio chain. Encouraged by his friend and since 2019 an investor in the chain, Mark Wahlberg, the former English footballer became a global partner of the company.

Beckham also owns and develops the Inter Miami club

Beckham, owner of Inter Miami, was drawn to the F45 workouts. But what is Mark Wahlberg’s F45 Training method? With sports centers in more than 65 countries, it intends to create a global fitness community associated with this brand. A lot of functional training and HIIT, without forgetting the most classic bodybuilding, of which Wahlberg is a fan and that we can see daily in his workouts posted on Instagram. “Comprehensive fitness”, they call it, with personalized training and nutrition plans.

Last March, DB took a further step in its relationship with the company by opening, together with two other partners, an F45 center on High Street Kensington, in London (United Kingdom).

But in addition, I even created a special program called Db45, which was launched on the market last May 11. The workout is an eleven-station, 45-minute cardio class, inspired by soccer. Paying homage to the jersey numbers Beckham has worn throughout his football career, the set times will alternate between 32 seconds of work, 15 seconds of rest and 23 seconds of work, followed by 20 seconds of rest.

CR7 Empowered by Innovative US Teams

Cristiano Ronaldo is another soccer star who has found a more than profitable business in “low cost” gyms. The “CR7″, of which there are locations throughout Spain, are born from the association between Cristiano Ronaldo and Crunch Fitness, an American company that has more than 900 licenses and more than 250 franchises in the US, Canada, Australia and Spain. Its innovative concept seeks to combine the training and methods of a chain like Crunch with the sports practices that have led Cristiano Ronaldo to his good physical condition. The method is suitable for all types of audiences, both beginners and experts.

CR7 has always taken care of and worked on his physique

The CR7 Crunch Fitness offer well-cared spaces where the public can experience the practice of the most innovative sport thanks to state-of-the-art American-made equipment; a complete list of fitness programs, the opportunity to work with expert personal trainers in individual and small group programs, nutrition guidance, as well as enviable facilities.

One of its latest developments has been the incorporation of Fit3D body scanners. The Fit3D scanner allows sports and nutrition centers around the world to monitor in detail and very visually the physical evolution of their clients. It uses noninvasive technology to take hundreds of measurements and compose a 3D image of the body. And through the associated computer platform, it allows the user’s body composition to be analyzed, measuring their percentage of fat and lean mass, their posture and body balance, as well as comparing the evolution of the results over time.

Rafinha Alcantara, with contact sports

The contact sports sector is also in full swing and they have become another good business option for soccer players who wish to continue to be linked to the world of sports once they have retired. Rafinha Alcantara is one of them. Already in 2016, the former Barça player had opened Templum BCN, a martial arts gym located in the center of Barcelona.

In 850 square meters, they have a cardio and bodybuilding room, and offer a wide variety of activities in martial arts, cross templum and fitness.

After more than two years of pandemic and months of confinement, training lovers continue to take care of their diet and have returned to gyms in person.

The investment fund will have a duration of five years and will focus on sectors such as health, education, finance, home, digitization, entertainment and marketplaces.

Telefónica is searching for startups in Brazil simultaneously with the diversification of its offer with new booming businesses such as consumer loans and digital education.
On the other hand, the company is planning for the end of 2022 the “launch of VivaE, a digital education joint venture with Ánima Educaçao. Both companies have already selected the management team and aspire to complete their base product MVP, for its acronym in English, in the coming months.

Several months ago, the Visa company made partnerships with various startups such as Lemon Cash that have allowed it to launch its debit card, with which users can accumulate cryptocurrencies and receive cashback in BTC for each purchase made.

Moreover, Visa established alliances with other startups such as Crypto.com, Alterbank and Zro Bank in Brazil, where “generally, these associations present cards to include payment with cryptocurrencies, the purchase of crypto assets through crypto-enabled points of sale by Visa, and also the receipt of the return – cashback – in Bitcoin”.

The financial company recently announced that it will launch its new crypto card in the coming weeks in partnership with the Argentine exchange Satoshi Tango.

With this new initiative, the Japanese firm intends to make investments in emerging technologies and AI that allow to specify and reshape new industries that are focused on the areas related to digital financial services, health, education, insurance, electronic commerce, blockchain, among others.

According to the statement issued by the company, the objective is to invest in startups in all the countries of the Latin American region in their different stages, that is, from the beginning until they are operational.

According to the president of SoftBank Group Corp, Masayoshi Son: “There is so much innovation and disruption in Latin America, and I believe that business opportunities have never been so strong there. Latin America is a fundamental part of our strategy, that is why we are expanding our presence and redoubling our commitment.”

For his part, the CEO of the SoftBank Group, Marcelo Claure, highlighted that in the last two years the company far exceeded expectations. “The incredible work and vision of Latin American entrepreneurs gives us the confidence that their digital transformation will continue to accelerate; in fact, we expect 2022 to be the largest IPO year in the history of the region.“

The company launched its first investment fund in Latin America in 2019 for $ 5 billion, at a time when no major investor “was betting on startups in the region.” This fund has invested 3.5 billion dollars in 48 companies in sectors ranging from education, finance and logistics, which are currently “valued at a total of 6.9 billion dollars.”
