The company OpenAI, responsible for the popular chatbot known as ChatGPT, announced the release of its new tool called Sora. This innovative tool allows you to create videos with artificial intelligence from users’ descriptions in text format.

The announcement was made through the official channels of OpenAI, where a brief demonstration of Sora’s capabilities was presented. Currently, the tool can generate videos of approximately 60 seconds in length, with a high level of detail. In addition, Sora allows you to adjust the positioning of the camera according to specifications and also include people in the scene.

Although Sora is under review, OpenAI has provided access to selected visual artists, designers and filmmakers to receive feedback and improve its performance. The aim is to adapt the tool to the needs of the users.

However, Sora’s model still has some limitations. For example, it is difficult to accurately simulate certain physics and may not establish causal relationships between events. As the company notes, “for example, a person might bite a cookie, but then the cookie might not show the bite mark.”

In addition, Sora may become confused with certain details of the messages shared by users, which affects its ability to accurately recreate spatial descriptions.

The rocket carrying the module, a Long March-5B Y3, successfully departed from the Wenchang base, in Hainan province, in the south of the country, at 2:22 p.m. (local time, 08:22 p.m.), time in Spain.

South Korea successfully launched its Nuri rocket into space, which was developed and manufactured with its own technology. It is considered a very important advance in the galactic industry of the Asian country that positions it as one of the ten countries in the world capable of placing a satellite in orbit.

Lee Jong-ho, South Korea’s Science Minister, said it was “a monumental moment for South Korean science and technology. We have successfully launched Nuri.”

The rocket was launched at 4:00 p.m. local time in a southerly direction from the Naro Space Center, about 350 kilometers south of Seoul. The first and second stages, in addition to the fairing, were successfully launched, while the third stage was able to extend the payload into low Earth orbit, about 16 minutes after taking off at a height of 700 kilometers.

Nuri weighed approximately 200 tons and runs on liquid fuel and its price is equivalent to almost 2 trillion won, which is equivalent to 1.8 billion dollars.

With this launch, South Korea becomes one of the 10 countries capable of developing and launching its own satellites and is one of the seven countries with the capacity to place “satellites weighing more than one ton” into orbit, along with Russia, the United States, France, Japan, China and India”.

The Minister highlighted that the country plans to launch four rockets similar to Nuri by 2027 with the purpose of “commercializing this technology and launching satellites for other countries.

The technology company promises to free up to 60 percent of the space they occupy on the mobile with this function still in development, as stated in a statement. In its roadmap, Google plans to bring it to consumers “later” this year, but will make it available to developers with the release of Bundletool 1.10.

Google sees advantages in this new approach for both users and developers. “Instead of uninstalling an app, users could ‘archive’ it, temporarily free up space, and quickly and easily reactivate the app. Developers can benefit from fewer uninstalls and substantially less friction to get back to their favorite apps.”

The Multi-slit Solar Explorer (MUSE) and HelioSwarm missions will provide a “deeper view” of the cosmos and critical information to help safeguard astronauts, satellites, and communication signals like GPS.

NASA’s Thomas Zurbuchen noted that the “MUSE and HelioSwarm mission will provide a new and deeper perspective on the solar atmosphere and space weather,” offering a “unique perspective” on the “mysteries” of the Sun.

Delving into the cosmos

According to information from the US space agency, the MUSE mission will make it easier for scientists to understand the forces that stimulate the “heating of the solar corona and the eruptions in that outer region that are the basis of space weather.” Through this mission it will be possible to observe the extreme ultraviolet radiation of the Sun and capture images with better resolution of the solar transition region and the corona.

The HelioSwarm mission will allow the first multiscale measurements in space of fluctuations in the magnetic field and movements of the solar wind known as solar wind turbulence.  In order to study the turbulence of the solar wind, it is necessary to take measurements of large areas simultaneously and from different points in space, which is why the HelioSwarm mission is designed as a central spacecraft and eight small satellites in joint orbit.

According to Peg Luce, deputy director of NASA’s Heliophysics Division, “the technical innovation of HelioSwarm’s small satellites operating together as a constellation provides the unique ability to investigate turbulence and its evolution in the solar wind.”
