The participation of external people in NASA projects is possible through what they have called citizen science.

Non-NASA employees can perform tasks even just with a mobile phone, collecting data in different areas of the agency, but also observing space or carrying out experiments and then reporting the results.

There are some tasks with a greater demand for professional training and technological equipment. But the important thing is that the United States space agency “has 29 citizen science projects, open to collaboration.”

NASA’s objective is to obtain “collaboration between expert researchers and people outside the academy”, because the greater the number of observations, the better the results.

The 29 citizen science projects “range from the search for the hypothetical Planet 9 to investigating the atmosphere of our own planet, including the search for exoplanets and clues about dark energy. And, of course, keep track of life outside our planet.”

Hubble continues to offer invaluable data to science every day for a better understanding of the universe, stars, planets and galaxies.

“Among their findings are planet-forming disks around nearby stars, chemical exploration of the atmospheres of planets in other systems, the first supermassive black hole in a neighboring galaxy and even evidence of an accelerating universe.”

The most recent image captured by Hubble is that of the Little Dumbbell Nebula 3,400 light years away in the constellation of Perseus.

From the observations of the space telescope, 44,000 scientific articles have been published and its work in space continues, making it possible to collect information on “the phenomena of the solar system, supernova explosions, the composition of the atmospheres of exoplanets and dynamic emission of the galaxies.”
