This Wednesday the president of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, presented the plans that will allow the digitization of SMEs in the country, where it will be promoted: the National Plan for Digital Competences, the Plan for Digitization of SMEs 2021-2025 and the Digitalization Plan of the Public Administrations.

The initiative arises within the framework of the Spain Digital 2025 Agenda and it will have an investment value of 11 billion euros which will serve to reinforce digitization to increase productivity and economic growth, promote the creation of quality employment and conquer foreign markets.

This was announced by the Spanish National Executive who also assured that the future of the nation “passes through the vaccine and overcoming the pandemic and, then, through the recovery and social, economic and administrative transformation, and that recovery it will necessarily be digital.”

Digitization of SMEs

Initially, the digitization plan for SMEs arose with a net budget of 4,656 million euros, which involves five lines of action where it is available: basic digitization for SMEs, support for change management to promote business and executive training in digital skills, the promotion of disruptive innovation and entrepreneurship, support for sector digitization and a focal point for coordination and efficiencies.

Regarding the sectorial digitization, the government agreed to mark a special incidence in industry, tourism and commerce. These five axes contribute to the strengthening of SMEs to the point of approaching one and a half million SMEs, something that would represent half of the companies in Spain.
