When Windows updates arrive, users must wait a certain time until all the requirements are executed on the computers. Microsoft wants to eliminate the hassle and is already working on a faster, lighter and more stable operating system.

In this sense, it is known that the technology company has made changes to Windows updates in Windows 10, adding a “delta” factor to Windows Update “through which only the missing parts of the patches are downloaded.”

But the most impressive thing has been done recently with a massive change in Windows Update and has managed to make updates that are smaller and install much better.

Regarding Windows 11, Microsoft recently confirmed that by the time of the launch of the new Windows 11 24H2 (after summer), the new Windows Update model will come into operation.

It is expected that once this happens, users may notice Windows updates that are lighter or smaller and run faster.

Technical changes in updates

When you download a Windows patch, a package is executed that includes all the changes since the RTM release of the installed version. That is, it is not a simple refresh but a series of corrections.

Microsoft will change this process by periodically releasing “control updates, or subversions, that will mark the end of one series of cumulative patches and the start of another.”

Thus, during the update, only the changes introduced since the last checkpoint will be downloaded. This will save time, reduce costs, reduce bandwidth expenditure and save hard drive space.

The change will apply to all users without requiring a change in equipment.
