The social network X expanded its content standards to allow pornography to be displayed. Elon Musk clarified that images must be labelled, their publication must be consensual and any content that is violent or incites violence is prohibited.

The company has not used the term pornography, but has referred to this content as “adult nudity or sexual behavior.”

“The bill formalizes a policy that already existed when the platform was Twitter, before billionaire Elon Musk bought it in 2022,” according to sources. The bill has received backing from the San Francisco headquarters, arguing that “sexual expression, whether visual or written, can be a legitimate form of artistic expression.”

Musk trusts in the autonomy and good judgment of the users of the social network, who he believes will have the opportunity to share content attached to their beliefs.

Regarding what can be posted on the platform, it has been stated that users will be able to “share adult nudity or sexual behavior, as long as it has been produced and distributed in a consensual manner and is also correctly labelled as such and is not prominently displayed.”

The goal is to give users greater freedom to create and share sexual content, but restricting exposure to adult content “to children or adult users who choose not to see it” through appropriate labeling. In addition, any content that “promotes exploitation, lack of consent, objectification, sexualization or harm to minors and obscene behaviour” is prohibited.

On the other hand, the company has emphasized that this content will not be allowed in prominent places, such as banners or profile photos.
