Currently, Paraguay has only one ATM owned by the Counter Commerce company and the Xtra24/7 supermarket in Asunción is located.

The Spanish company reported that it plans to install various Bitcoin ATMs during the second half of 2022, not only in Paraguay; but also other Latin American countries in order to position themselves in that market.

With the opening of the ATM in Asunción, BitBase increases the number of its ATMs to 100, approximately, in the cities of Spain, Portugal and now Paraguay, including those that operate under the franchise modality.

Next destination could be Venezuela

The BitBase company also announced that its next destination to install its ATMs could be Venezuela. “Our next challenge is to install a Bitcoin ATM in Venezuela.”

For months the company has indicated that it was in talks with the authorities responsible for the matter, in the Caribbean country, and they estimate that with the “opening of Paraguay they can accelerate processes in Venezuela.”

On the other hand, the opening of ATMs demonstrates the growth of this initiative by bitcoin, since according to data released by MonedaATMadar, the ATMs of this cryptocurrency exceed 38,000 worldwide.

The lnp2pBot software, developed by the Venezuelan programmer Francisco Calderón, makes it easy to acquire bitcoins or exchange them for fiat money and has allowed the platform to obtain a new commercial record.

The developer announced through the social network Twitter “302,127,905 sats have been exchanged through lnp2pBot, a project inspired by the Bitcoin Lightning Network. (…) More than 3 BTC have changed hands without custody and without KYC from the comfort of Telegram”.

In 20 days, the platform achieved the 3BTC mark. that is, “it took a little over three weeks for 100 million satellites to move in lnp2pBot and add to the 2 BTC that was registered at the beginning of May”, while the first BTC was achieved in the month of March 214 days after the launch of the lnp2pBot.

The bot mobilizes millions of satellites

Francisco Calderón indicated that since the telegram bot was launched “the number of users and orders completed by the system has been increasing”. However, he acknowledges that the bot is currently at “a peak” or high adoption by of the users.

According to Calderón, the number of people, as well as the large numbers, “play a determining role”, because he demonstrates the “bot’s ability to move millions of satellites”.

It is also important to take into consideration that the Bitcoin Lightning network has increased by 200 % in the last year, facilitating “fast, automatic, cheap exchanges without major limitations.”

Once approved by the regulatory authorities, it will become in the first Israeli bank to offer cryptocurrency trading services to its clients.

According to the information outlined, users will initially be able to acquire, maintain and sell cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) by making transactions starting at $15.49, which is equivalent to 50 shekels, and they estimate that in the future they will be able to trade other cryptocurrencies.

To offer this type of service, the regulatory authorities must approve the initiative, for which there is not yet a scheduled date, but according to the statement, the bank’s platform “will collect taxes in accordance with the guidelines of the Israel Tax Authority for that customers do not have to deal with the complexities of taxes.”

Clear and necessary legislation

Anat Guetta, head of the Israel Authority, recently expressed that the country needs clear legislation that would allow the country to attract investors to develop its crypto market.

It is important to note that the country is working on legislation that guarantees that cryptocurrencies are not used for illicit purposes. In this connection, in early March, the Israeli Defense Minister seized “30 cryptocurrency accounts related to terrorist groups.”

The Israeli authorities are quite strict with the management of the crypto market, to the point that Binance had to stop its operations in the country after the regulatory authorities made such a request.

This is revealed by some recently published reports.

The information highlights that NYDIG is working together with the Association of American Banks and the Independent Community Bankers of America to start commercial operations during 2022.

This alliance is a consequence of the great demand that users are exerting on the financial sector to be able to access cryptocurrencies from “their trusted banks, instead of doing it through the use of commercial platforms and/or services operated by third parties.”

By finalizing the alliance, community banks will not have to struggle with the regulatory aspects inherent to the possession of cryptos for users, since these custody services will depend on NYDIG.

Banks migrate to the crypto ecosystem

Many financial institutions, globally, have already joined or are in the process of offering transactions with digital currencies. One of them was Vas Bank, which started these activities last August 2021, with a service designated “Crypto Banking”. Brad Scrivner, CEO of the entity, said: “We take this challenge head on and dedicate significant resources to respond to this unmet need.”

While Flushing Financial Corporation, an entity associated with Flushing Bank, recently announced that it had established an agreement with NYDIG in order to provide its users with the possibility of buying and selling Bitcoin.

In the statement he said: “As part of our ongoing digital transformation, we recognize the importance of keeping up with emerging market trends and consumer demand for alternative financial services. By using NYDIG’s innovative technology to provide seamless access through our relationship with Q2, our online banking provider, we will be able to offer our customers the ability to buy, sell and hold bitcoin.”

For his part, Harold Reynolds, CEO of BankSouth, said: “We have seen significant activity in transactions associated with cryptocurrencies from our clients’ accounts, and some investments have been quite large, so we are obviously interested.”

However, some technology platforms like PayPal are taking up the challenge and have developed instruments that allow them to offer the services of carrying out transactions with different digital currencies.

In this global framework, the online payment giant PayPal announced its new service that will allow customers to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrencies directly from its platform. In addition, its clients will have the opportunity, starting in 2022, to use their cryptocurrencies as a source of financing to cancel their network of 26 million businesses around the world,” which could increase their utility.

For the president and CEO of PayPal, Dan Schulman, the transformation of physical money into digital forms is inescapable, which has implicit some advantages in terms of financial inclusion, access, efficiency, speed and resilience of the payment system, as well as the “Ability of governments to disburse funds to citizens quickly.”

Schulman admits that the organization’s experience in digital payments, its global reach, as well as its two-way network and the security processes and controls it possesses allow it to better understand, exchange, and interoperate these new financial instruments.

Paypal provides new financial tools for Latin America

Federico Gómez Schumacher, PayPal’s chief executive for Latin America, highlights the importance of the Latin American market for the organization. “It is no secret to anyone that Latin America still has a way to go in terms of adopting digital financial tools, as well as reducing the high levels of informality that persist in their economies.”

That is why the company wants to work and increase its presence in the region and thus contribute and help reduce poverty. Likewise, the organization will offer educational content that allows users to understand the cryptographic ecosystem, as well as its risks and opportunities related to investing in digital currencies and everything related to blockchain technology.

On the other hand, cryptocurrencies will become another source of financing within PayPal’s digital wallet, adding another improved utility for cryptocurrency holders. Merchants will not get any additional integrations or fees as all transactions will be settled in fiat currency at their current PayPal rates.

With this function, companies will be able to sell their products, from their profile pages on the instant messaging platform.

The companies participating in the pilot program will have a space at the top of their Twitter profiles where they can show the products available to buy without leaving the application.

The social network, which is based in San Francisco, explained that all people in the United States who have the application in the English version of Twitter and are adapted to Apple mobile devices will be able to view the Shop Module.

Bruce Falck, Goldbird Product Leader, said: “We are excited about the potential of shopping on Twitter and eager to learn more on the go.” The purpose of the store module is to offer social network users a way to “Tweet about products to buy them.“

According to what Falck expressed, with this new experience they will continue to learn about people’s buying preferences on Twitter. “We are starting with a handful of brands in the United States.”

Studies carried out by the eMarketer company indicate that the social network Facebook leads the market for “social commerce”, which has been growing rapidly and it is estimated that by the end of the year, in the United States, it will have a value of about $ 36 billion.
