Aruba’s Prime Minister, Mike Eman, indicated last week that the border with Venezuela will reopen on August 1, although precautions remain in place due to the ongoing seismic emergency.

“The initial plan envisions one flight per week,” Eman stated. He also emphasized that “the restoration of connections will be implemented in phases and will initially consist of one flight per week.”

Meanwhile, Venezuela continues to assess the structural damage from the recent earthquakes to determine if operational conditions are suitable for August.

Regarding the signing of agreements for the reopening of the border, the Prime Minister indicated that his country wants to coordinate actions between the Aruban Department of Aviation and Venezuelan authorities in the aviation sector.

The signing of a memorandum of understanding is planned to coordinate all aspects related to the border reopening. Furthermore, a bipartisan technical commission will advance the logistical preparations, reiterating the island’s full willingness to collaborate expeditiously. “If progress can be made and assistance provided in any way, whether by facilitating family contact or through other forms of support, the Government is open to it,” said the Prime Minister of Aruba.
