This Sunday, Bolivians went to the polls to elect a new president. Senator and candidate Rodrigo Paz won the first round and will face Jorge Quiroga on October 19 in the second round of the presidential elections.

The results of the electoral process were as follows: Rodrigo Paz 32.2 %; Jorge Quiroga 26.8 %; Samuel Doira 19.9 %; Andrónico Rodríguez 8.2 %; Manfred Reyes 6.6 %; Eduardo del Castillo 3.2 %; Johnny Fernández 1.6 % and Pavel Aracena 1.5 %.

The current president of the South American nation, Luis Arce, emphasized the civility and calm during the elections and stressed that the people have the final say regarding a possible change in policy.

Senator Rodrigo Paz declared that if he wins the second round, he will free Bolivia from 20 years of rule by the MAS party, and called on his supporters to celebrate this Sunday’s victory.
