The recent annual report of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), “Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean 2026. Growth and productivity in a context of high informality: limitations and challenges to boost productive formalization in the region,” indicates that economic growth It could reach 2.2 % this year and 2.5 % in 2027.

The commission believes that even if these projections are met, the indicators would be insufficient to “sustainably raise per capita income, close development gaps, and significantly expand policy space.”

The region is not immune to factors currently impacting the international context, such as slower global growth, geopolitical tensions, financial volatility, fiscal policies, and pressures in energy markets.

However, ECLAC emphasizes that low levels of investment, weak productivity growth, the decline in formal job creation, and high and persistent informal employment are the biggest obstacles to regional growth.

The Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, highlights some achievements of Latin America and the Caribbean in terms of macroeconomic stability, but notes that there is still work to be done to overcome slow growth, increase investment and productivity, and achieve productive formalization that “strengthens the capacities of individuals and businesses, expands social protection, and generates more quality formal jobs.”

-There comes a point when several important opportunities seem to be progressing, but none are fully defined. In B2B sales, this point is known as the chasm: the place where complexity increases and visibility decreases significantly.

“There are meetings, there is interest, and there are open conversations. However, there are no clear decisions. The stakeholders change, deadlines shift, and the answers become ambiguous. The salesperson feels close to closing the deal, even though they don’t know exactly what or who it really depends on.”

-The chasm is dangerous because it fosters illusion. Movement is confused with progress. A full schedule is interpreted as a sign of advancement. It’s assumed that the close will come through the accumulation of interactions. But this point demands something else: stopping and looking squarely at what isn’t being said.

Clarity is worth more than persistence

“This is where the tough questions arise. Who really decides? What risks are going unrecognized? What happens if the client does nothing? What are the consequences of inaction? These conversations are uncomfortable because they expose internal tensions, hidden priorities, and fears that no one wants to voice.”

Many salespeople back down at this point. They prefer not to make things uncomfortable and to go with the flow. Others react by pressuring with discounts, artificial urgency, or short-term promises. Both approaches usually worsen the situation and prolong the process even further.

“Facing the chasm means accepting that not all progress is real and that some opportunities need to be redefined or even discarded. In sales, this moment separates those who guide processes from those who merely follow them. The salesperson matures when they understand that not all sales are won by pushing and that clarity is worth more than persistence.”

The chasm is not the end of the journey. It is the prelude to the most demanding test. The point at which the salesperson must decide whether to delve deeper or remain on the surface, even if it means not making progress.

Modest performance computers with no ability to upgrade to Windows 11 now have a stripped-down version called Tiny11.

It is a new option that the demanding Microsoft has just announced to provide an alternative to increase its performance to the owners of computers that cannot upgrade to Windows 11.

Tiny11 is an adapted version, Windows 11 22H2, lighter, with less demands on the user’s equipment, which will only require 8GB of hard disk space compared to the 20GB of the original.

This adaptation allows good performance with 2GBRAM. On the other hand, for the peace of mind of customers, it does not require TPM or Secure Boot. With this measure, it is possible to update Windows 10 to Tiny11.

It is important to note that “it only supplies the necessary components, which include the accessibility tools, Windows Terminal, Microsoft Store, the calculator, Notepad and Paint. Because it doesn’t pre-install Microsoft Edge, it leaves the door open for the user to use the web browser of their choice.”

An important piece of information, beyond being able to download Tiny11 from the Internet Archive, is that unfortunately it is not officially supported by Microsoft, so the user must consider the possible consequences of the installation.

The American company Intel exhibited its new line of 12th generation Intel Core laptop processors for the P and U series, which will be available from March, offering higher performance and productivity than the previous ones.

The first terminals with Intel chips will be manufactured by the companies Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, LG, MSI, NEC and Samsung and based on a “hybrid performance architecture of the brand, with a combination of performance cores (P cores) and efficient cores (E cores),” the company explained in a statement.

P-series and U-series feature 14-core, 6-core P, and 8-core E architecture, Intel Iris Xe graphics developed with up to 96 execution units, memory support for DDR5/LPDDR5 and DDR4/LPDDR4, and scaling with multi-threaded performance 70% faster. With this architecture, workloads, video calls, browsing, photo editing, are distributed in the most suitable core, for optimal multitasking with Intel Thread Director technology in the Windows 11 operating system, allowing better CPU performance.

The chips have twice the performance for 3D rendering, with greater productivity in photo editing and 30% faster Intel WiFi 6E technology, which facilitate integration and wireless performance, reliability, and responsiveness. Additionally, they have Intel’s universal cable connectivity system, Thunderbolt 4, and Intel IPU 6.0, facilitating very high quality images and videoconferences.

Intel-Evo smart collaboration

The company also announced that Intel Evo-branded notebook designs will be subjected to intense workloads, explaining that the platform will check system requirements such as battery life, as well as the latest update called Intelligent Collaboration that ensures better experience “with artificial intelligence in collaborative applications such as video conferencing”.

The company estimates more than 100 Intel Evo verified systems during 2022 with devices that for the first time include foldable screens and 12th Gen Intel Core H-series designs. It is also expected that Thunderbolt monitors, docks, storage and Bluetooth headsets come together to the line of accessories that are part of the program, with brands such as Poly, Anker, Kensington, Dell, HP, Belkin, Samsung, Sabrent or OWC.
