As an alternative that provides peace of mind and security to the population, the European Central Bank (ECB) has recommended keeping some cash.

This suggestion, in a context marked by electronic payments, cryptocurrencies, and the disappearance of fiat money in several countries, even due to government measures, seems contradictory.

However, it is a way to provide protection for Europeans in the event of another power outage like the one that affected Spain, France, and Portugal, among others, a few months ago. At that time, paying for necessities and utilities was impossible online.

For this reason, in its latest report, the ECB highlighted the importance of having cash in households in the face of global crises. “The European institution recommends having a cash reserve of 70 to 100 euros per person, or at least 72 hours of provisions. This sum, whether for a family of two, three, or four members, would be sufficient to cover basic needs for at least three days.”

To prevent the chaos, people are now looking to solar chargers, whose power supply is inexhaustible.

Power outages are becoming increasingly common, not only in Latin America but around the world. The most recent event, which occurred in April in Spain, Portugal, and France, is driving the search for alternatives to keep basic services running during such events, and the most long-lasting option is electric chargers.

Considering that the charging source in this case is the sun, the use of solar charging devices is emerging as the best option for cell phones, personal computers, and other devices with moderate electricity demands.

When purchasing a solar charger, experts recommend paying attention to factors such as compatibility with the voltage and current of the devices it will be used with, the output power (watts), the internal battery capacity, solar charging time, and the availability of multiple output ports and an LED charging indicator.

The efficiency of the electrical panel is essential, so it is recommended to purchase high-performance ones (more than 20 %) and with excellent conversion of sunlight into electricity, especially those made of monocrystalline silicon.
