The security provided by these keys made up of numbers, letters and special characters is invaluable, but they are increasingly seen as outdated. In this regard, technology companies have been working for years to offer simpler password managers.

The company FIDO Alliance, which works on the creation of open standards for key authentication, has spoken out on this matter. According to the company, the end of traditional passwords is near. “The organization is working on a tool to exchange unique access keys and other credentials between providers.”

They have pointed out that passwords “can be moved between different online services or password managers without compromising user security thanks to the Passkey Central tool. The idea has convinced industry giants such as Apple, Google or Samsung, who are interested in working with FIDO Alliance to develop this technology.”

Vulnerability of current keys

Cyberattacks do not stop, and digital criminals specialize in new ways to bypass barriers on different platforms. Currently, it is easier for hackers “to access victims’ sensitive information, and traditional passwords are no longer effective in retaining them. Access keys with providers protect users from phishing and facilitate login.”

The idea of FIDO Alliance is to extend the use of access keys instead of passwords to more users so that they have control over their access formulas, in addition to facilitating the change of them. A clear example of how to securely transfer keys between administrators is by using “Passkey Central, where the Credential Exchange Protocol (CXP) and Credential Exchange Format (CXF) are used to securely transfer keys between administrators.” This way, users’ confidential information is never exposed.

Other selected partners include the Brazilian banking federation (Febraban), German payments company Gieseck+Devrient, and Brazil-based banking service Tecban and its partner Capitual. One of the projects includes the collaboration between Brazil’s Visa, Microsoft and blockchain firm ConsenSys. As well as Vert, the software services company, Digital Asset and the management consulting company, Oliver Wyman.

After accepting approximately 50 project proposals from different companies from Brazil, Germany, USA, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Sweden, the central bank decided to select nine allies to execute the project that will aim to create its digital currency, CBDC, according to what was expressed in a press release released by the official entity.

The financial entity highlighted that it is evaluating use cases for a digital currency and its technological feasibility. “Given the large number of projects of relevance and interest for the development of the real digital initiative, the selection process sought a balance between the diversity of the portfolio of proposals submitted to the laboratory and the need for detailed monitoring of the selected projects.”

The projects were selected by the Brazilian central bank for the implementation phase, estimated to start on March 28 and remain until July 27 of this year.

The most important economy in the Latin American region, through its official financial entity, announced last November 2021 that it had started the pilot test to create its digital currency, which would be backed by the Brazilian real (BRL) and the culmination of the project was scheduled for 2024.

It is important to note that “Brazil has become the region’s pioneer in the field of digital assets.” The mayor of the city of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes, plans to invest 1 % of the treasury in Bitcoin, while the assembly members work on the approval of laws and regulations that allow regulating the use of cryptocurrencies in favor of the development of the sector in the country.

As will be recalled, the Senate Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) recently passed a bill that has the purpose of regulating the crypto market, and it is up to the Senate to discuss and vote on the legislative proposal to regulate cryptocurrencies. In 2021 Brazil was the first Latin American country to launch a Bitcoin ETF.

This was reported by the representatives of the financial center Alkesh Shah and Andrew Moss, in statements recently issued to Bloomberg, who assured that CBDCs are “an inevitable evolution of current electronic currencies”, which is why it is very difficult for the United States to “refrain from launching them”.

The US Central Bank considers central bank digital currencies to be an “inevitable evolution within the state economy”. In recent years, most of the central banks of different countries have had the emergence of digital currencies as a central point of concern, although the United States Federal Reserve (FED) had remained a little outside of this process. But a “recent report from Bank of America suggests that the American powerhouse may intend to launch its new digital currency by the end of this decade.”

It places the world’s leading power quite far behind other powers that are already advancing regulatory issues on this type of asset, especially China, which plans to massively launch its digital yuan this year.

The president of the Federal Reserve, Jerome Powell, has spoken on the subject and has indicated that “they would consider the possibility of launching a digital dollar, but that they are not interested in “being the first”.

Increase of stablecoin adoption

The representatives of the Central Bank of the United States also referred to the increase in “stablecoins in terms of adoption and capitalization”, highlighting that their trend will continue for several years. Alkesh Shah and Andrew Moss agree with the president of the FED, Jerome Powell, in pointing out that stablecoins “are a type of asset that can perfectly coexist with a digital dollar” and they hope that this type of asset will grow massively for making payments.

“We expect the adoption and use of stablecoins for payments to increase significantly in the coming years as financial institutions explore digital asset trading and custody solutions and as payment companies incorporate blockchain technology into their platforms.”

In Spain, the most common payment application through mobile devices is Bizun, which has become a national benchmark. However, there are several easily applicable alternatives.

PayPal is one of the oldest payment services and one of its Venmo applications could undergo a great transformation in the market, after the decision that Amazon has just taken.

The e-commerce company will accept that its customers can make their payments through this app mobile since “its system linked to the users’ bank account complies with security standards”.

Despite having been working on the payment process for a few months, some doubts and details still persist, such as whether “independent and total payment will be accepted with Venmo or whether customers will be required to integrate their Venmo accounts into the Amazon wallet.”

What is clear is the impact that this measure represents for the app, meaning a significant growth throughout the United States, where it will apply at first, and the promise of a projection towards other countries.

This measure is positive for Amazon because it shows the intention of the organization to adapt to the new realities of the market, modifying and accepting the new payment systems, which gives cryptocurrency investors hope about the possibility to cancel the e-commerce giant with crypto assets.

With such decisions, regardless of the platform that is used, what is evident is that mobile applications are here to stay and their growing acceptance in shops and in people’s daily lives.

The information was published on the official blog of the company.

LinkedIn is quite a significant case because it was able to stay in that market since 2014, becoming the only social network that has remained in China for so long, thanks to the association with a capital firm with influence in that country and by complying with the Chinese laws on censorship of its users’ publications. However, it is now withdrawing in the face of “a significantly more challenging operating environment and greater demands from the Government.”

In the statement signed by Mohak Shroff, the company’s vice president of engineering, the challenges involved in creating a LinkedIn version in China are highlighted, which involved complying with the demands and restrictions that the government establishes to be able to operate the platforms on the Internet. But the company took on the challenge with the “objective of connecting the world’s professionals to make them more productive and successful”, establishing a series of fairly clear rules in case we had to “reassess our presence in the country.”

The company highlights that during the seven years of operation they managed to support users in their job search, but were not as successful in the social aspect: “We have been successful in helping Chinese members to find jobs and economic opportunities, but we have not achieved the same goals in the most social aspects of sharing and keeping them informed.”

Despite all that, the company does not completely abandon the Asian giant and will launch InJobs, a new application without social media functions and in which only job offers can be published. “Our new strategy is to focus on helping China-based professionals find jobs and Chinese companies find quality candidates.” This is how the statement describes it.

It is important to say that China represents one of the largest markets for this social network, with 54 million users, only behind the United States and India.

The 9to5mac website reported that Facebook’s failure was the product of a problem presented by a DNS that “erased the routes to the company’s domains“, also impacting the company’s internal network, which generated a greater complication and prolongation of the crash.

The companies resumed their operation at approximately 8:00 p.m., and although the managers used their Twitter account to apologize for the failures of the services to the users, there is still no official communication on the causes that motivated the blackout of the networks.

According to analyst Kevin Rooke, the blockchain in 69 opportunities has made more than a million transactions in 24 hours.

The bitcoin network was created with a decentralized system that makes it impossible to know with certainty the number of users that has the cryptocurrency. However, an estimated 200 million digital wallets are distributed among 100 million owners.

Chainalysis conducted a study to determine the impact of the cryptocurrency on the world economy and in order to measure users it considered the amount of BTC per bitcoin address. This allowed to know the existence of 460 million wallets “that once had a larger balance. at 0.0 BTC, although 288 million are empty and 93 % only used it once.”

While “172 million addresses” execute movements on a regular basis, of which “25 million accounts belong to decentralized groups or people participating in the network” and the rest, 147 million, correspond to the different buying and selling platforms or other participating players in the crypto market.

Bitcoin, like fiat money, can be used to acquire any product or service that accepts this means of payment and in the world market, BTC users can get anything, from a car to a medicine and even a home.

The platform seeks that creators can also obtain income from the short videos of their accounts, up to a minute long. This also includes Stories, and for that reason in the coming weeks it will allow you to add ads with the appearance of stickers and obtain a part of the benefits.

This function is added coinciding with the growth of the platform because between 2019 and 2020 the number of content creators, who earn the equivalent of $ 10,000 per month, grew by 88 %, as reported by Facebook in a statement.

Likewise, the social network pursues that more and more creators can access monetization, and for this now it requires that the pages have a minimum total of 600,000 minutes viewed, between videos and direct, in the last 60 days, and at least five videos active in the Live section of live broadcasts.

Finally, Facebook has announced that it will invest 7 million dollars in promoting its Stars, a virtual currency with which users can pay small tips to creators during broadcasts. This feature has been visually enhanced and is now available in 15 additional markets.
