The Minister of the Interior of Venezuela, Remigio Ceballos, recently indicated that the value of the passport is anchored to the value of the official dollar, published by the Central Bank, at the time of the procedure.

Previously, the document had an approximate value of $216, depending on the parity of the petro, the local cryptocurrency, with respect to the dollar. However, given the announcement by the Venezuelan presidency regarding the petro, bitcoin and dash wallets about their transfer to the Patria platform, from now on the passport will simply have its value in dollars.

According to Ceballos, this represents a reduction in the cost of the passport, which goes from $216 to $200, although as the daily currency exchange rate changes, the price of the document will increase.

The Saime (Administrative Service for Identification, Migration and Immigration) is the government entity to which Venezuelan citizens must go to obtain and renew identity documents, passports, among others.

In addition to the announcement made by Ceballos, Saime indicated that it will make the necessary adjustments so that Venezuelans can obtain and renew their passport normally, under the new government guidelines.

The equivalent in bolivars, the national currency, according to the current parity of the dollar, would be about 7,000 bolivars, unlike the 7,880 that was paid with the petro system.
