Microsoft licensed the Parallels Desktop solution as the system to run Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Enterprise on Mac computers, made by Apple, with M1 and M2 chips.

Parallels Desktop is a platform that allows you to add Windows to a Mac computer. In this way, you can run multiple operating systems, applications, and services simultaneously on a single device.

The company has now announced that it will enable the use of version 18 of Parallels Desktop to run ARM (central processing units that are based on reduced instruction set architecture) versions of Windows 11 Pro and Windows 11 Enterprise on Apple computers equipped with with M1 and M2 chips.

The technology company warned in this statement that the ARM version of Windows 11 has “some limitations that may affect” the ability of users “to use various types of hardware, games and applications.”

This is because it is not compatible with DirectX 12 software, the set of multimedia technologies used in Windows games and other applications. It is also not compatible with applications that use the 3D graphics API OpenGL3.3 or higher.
