According to the software maker, “the light version of the Outlook web application will be removed on August 19 and will no longer support Gmail accounts on Outlook.com on June 30.”

According to David Los, partner group product manager for Outlook, Microsoft will stop supporting Basic Auth, a method by which a user “provides only their username and password to log in to their account.” Consequently, customers with Outlook.com, Hotmail, and Live.com accounts will need to migrate access through “apps that use modern authentication starting September 16.”

The change is based on the implementation of additional backend processes/tokens that are practically imperceptible to users but represent an important new layer of security.

The changes will also be applied to Windows Mail and Calendar users who will be migrated to their new “Outlook for Windows” application, before the end of support for the integrated Windows Mail and Calendar applications later this year.

They have clarified, however, that the new Outlook application for Windows and Mac will continue to be compatible with Gmail accounts.

According to the company, after 2024 customers will need to install or at least have updated versions of a compatible browser to run Outlook.com. In this sense, they indicated that the minimum browser requirements for Outlook.com are Microsoft Edge or Chrome version 79 or later; Firefox version 78 or later; Safari version 16 or later and Opera version 76 or later. As an additional but no less important fact, Microsoft added that it will only support Windows 10 or later and Windows Server 2016 or later to access Outlook.com.

The OPEC report also indicates that the South American country registered a very important increase, in a year and a half, when observing the minimum level reached in July 2020, which reached 392,000 barrels per day.

The data provided in the report indicates that Iran reduced its production by 15,000 barrels a day, while Libya decreased its production by 9,000 barrels per day, which means a depreciation in production 2.47 % for Iran and 1.14 % for Libya.

OPEC trusts that it will be able to gradually increase its supply of crude oil in the global arena, together with Russia and other allied partners that will continue to offer services so that they can satisfy the existing demand in the world.

Recovering the markets

OPEC is cautious about the market outlook, maintaining demand for 2022. In this area, the organization expects oil consumption to return to its pre-pandemic level in the second half of 2022.

After the historical plunge of almost 10 % in 2020, demand increased this year by 5.65 million barrels per day, or 6.22 %, to average 96.44 mbd. While for next year another increase of 4.15 mbd (4.3 %) is expected, which would reach 100.79 mbd, a level slightly higher than that registered in 2019 (100.10 mbd), before the fall triggered by the restrictions imposed in the fight against Covid-19.

Microsoft is working on a new Outlook client that will replace the current ones for Windows and Mac computers, based on the web and with native integration into the operating system.

Under the codename Monarch, the company is working on its project of An Outlook that the company already presented in September, that is, a single client that replaces the current applications, as reported in Windows Central.

This new client will be distributed as a single product, for both Windows and Mac, and will be based on web technologies. It will also include Mail and Calendar in Windows 10.

According to the aforementioned medium, Microsoft wants this new client to feel as native as possible in the operating system, with support for functions such as offline storage or notifications.

The company will begin rolling out the preview version of this new client later this year, replacing Mail and Calendar on Windows in 2022.
