The recent rains have caused significant losses on approximately 150 hectares of agricultural land in the Venezuelan Andes, according to Osman Quero Pérez, president of Fedeagro.

The official warned that the situation on access roads to Táchira, Mérida, and Trujillo remains critical. “The floods that caused this damage occurred on June 24. Since then, producers have requested support to raise awareness of the sector’s needs,” Quero Pérez emphasized.

The president of the Confederation of Agricultural Producers’ Associations, speaking to Unión Radio, referred to the “preliminary assessment prepared with the support of government agencies,” adding that another 250 hectares are partially damaged, negatively impacting small and medium-sized farmers in the state of Mérida.

However, he highlighted the efforts of agricultural producers to maintain food supplies throughout the country.
