The National Assembly of Venezuela unanimously appointed Orlando Miguel Maneiro Gaspar this Thursday as the new ambassador of Cuba, replacing Adán Chávez, in office since 2019.

The pro-government deputy Edgardo Antonio Ramírez presented to Parliament the report of the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration for the appointment of Maneiro for the diplomatic post in Cuba.

Ramírez highlighted Maneiro’s performance in the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) of Venezuela before Parliament, which approved the proposal unanimously.

Additionally, he indicated that “this appointment will contribute to the advancement of the 2030 Agenda and the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace, the consolidation of bilateral relations at the highest level and promote the ties of brotherhood, cooperation, mutual respect and construction of multilateralism, despite the obsession of the United States to maintain the economic blockade”.
