The company has stated that the effort is focused on improvements in stability and backups. However, it clarified that “these are solely security fixes to protect the system from potential cyberattacks by malware and other viruses that could seriously affect sensitive documents.”

The update released by Microsoft is version KB5078885 for builds 19045.7058 and 19044.7058. The update package addresses specific security vulnerabilities to mitigate risks, while also focusing on improving the quality of service.

It is accompanied by the Windows 11 update KB5079473 (released Tuesday, March 10), which resolves issues in File Explorer and more.

Other features of the update include: a warning dialog box in the Windows System Image Manager; improved file history during backups; a fix for a graphics stability issue; and expanded coverage for selected devices to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates and replace older ones.

The company has emphasized the need for users to be enrolled in the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program to continue receiving operating system updates. The subscription is free for the first year until October 14, 2026, after which a monthly fee will be required.

In this sense, it is known that the technology company has made changes to Windows updates in Windows 10, adding a “delta” factor to Windows Update “through which only the missing parts of the patches are downloaded.”

But the most impressive thing has been done recently with a massive change in Windows Update and has managed to make updates that are smaller and install much better.

Regarding Windows 11, Microsoft recently confirmed that by the time of the launch of the new Windows 11 24H2 (after summer), the new Windows Update model will come into operation.

It is expected that once this happens, users may notice Windows updates that are lighter or smaller and run faster.

Technical changes in updates

When you download a Windows patch, a package is executed that includes all the changes since the RTM release of the installed version. That is, it is not a simple refresh but a series of corrections.

Microsoft will change this process by periodically releasing “control updates, or subversions, that will mark the end of one series of cumulative patches and the start of another.”

Thus, during the update, only the changes introduced since the last checkpoint will be downloaded. This will save time, reduce costs, reduce bandwidth expenditure and save hard drive space.

The change will apply to all users without requiring a change in equipment.

Among rumors and information leaks about the new update, it has been announced that Windows 12 will be launched next year, presumably with more requirements for users and a focus on artificial intelligence.

The Windows Insider post on the old social network Twitter summarizes the publication of a user who “shared images related to Office 2024 Preview, and who also commented that the launch of Windows 12 would occur in 2024.”

Taking into consideration already known aspects of the previous versions of the most used operating system until now, it is very possible that the launch of the new update will occur by the end of 2024 in open beta.

“When its official launch occurs, Windows 12 will have to coexist for a time with Windows 10, which ends its support cycle in October 2025, and with Windows 11, which has a much longer life cycle ahead.”

Users will, at best, be able to upgrade for free from Windows 10 and Windows 11, making the process much easier for those who do not have the means to pay the full cost.

The technology company expanded details on Wednesday about the artificial intelligence-based features of the new version of its operating system at the presentation of the new Pixel 8, this day, after offering a first contact in May, at the annual developers event.

First of all, Google has recalled that with the previous version of Android, it did something “a little unusual” by introducing large screen features initially intended for Android 14 and made available to users through Android 13 updates.

Among these new features are improvements in the multitasking function, a taskbar with a new design and improved support for foldable devices, with applications optimized for them.

With Android 14, updates are introduced focused on personalizing the user experience, with greater control over health and safety, and improvements in accessibility, as indicated in a press release.

Added to the Material You customization options – wallpaper, style and color palette theme – is the ability to configure custom shortcuts on the lock screen, such as the QR reader or the Google Home application.

Thus, new lock screen templates of different styles have been implemented that also use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to adjust the screen based on the user’s situation. For example, if the weather suddenly worsens, the weather widget will be more prominent.

The wallpapers also incorporate emojis. The user can decorate the background with the emoji of their choice and select the color palette. A cinematic wallpaper is also incorporated, based on a photograph, which generates subtle movement in the background to create a 3D image effect.

Android 14 also introduces generative AI wallpapers, which will arrive first on the Pixel 8 and will allow you to create a custom background from a description, to which the color palette will adapt.

Control over health and safety

The Health Connect application is now integrated into the operating system so that users can centralize the storage of their data and have full control over it. These, by the way, are encrypted on the phone.

Users will also have greater awareness of how their data is used by applications that request access to it. That way, when they are asked to grant permission to, for example, location data, they will also be notified when an app shares it with third parties.

Another new feature of Android 14 is related to visual and auditory inclusion. This is the case of the magnifying glass, which is now more intuitive and can be configured to choose, for example, the amount of screen you want to enlarge.

For people with hearing needs, this update to Google’s operating system comes with a ‘flash’ notification setting, allowing for visual flashes of light when there are incoming notifications.

Android 14 began arriving this Wednesday on compatible Pixel devices. In addition to Pixel 8, which comes with this version by default, the update can be downloaded on Pixel 4a, Pixel 5 and 5a, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro.

At the end of the year the update will be available for compatible devices from OPPO, Samsung Galaxy, Sharp, OnePlus, vivo, Xiaomi, Nothing, Lenovo, iQOO and Tecno, according to an update from the brand on its developer blog.

The first days of using a new mobile device involve not only starting it for the first time but also reconfiguring and downloading backup copies of the services most commonly used by the user.

This configuration of the new smartphone can cause the device to overheat during the first days, due to having a lot of activity in the background, as Apple itself explains to Forbes. But after that initial set-up process, it is not so normal.

“We also found a bug in iOS 17 that is affecting some users and will be fixed in a software update,” he confirms to this medium. And he adds that there is another problem “that has to do with some recent updates to third-party applications that cause them to overload the system.”

Therefore, he states that they are “working with these application developers on fixes that are in the process of being implemented.”

Although more has been said about the overheating problems of the iPhone 15 Pro series, these also affect the iPhone 15 series. Both went on sale on September 22.

In its first week on the market, users who managed to buy one of these smartphones noticed that it became excessively hot, especially during battery charging and with prolonged but not intensive use.

Early speculation suggested that this problem could be due to the A17 Pro processor, although Apple expert analyst Ming-Chi Kuo pointed to the thermal system design as the cause of the problem, due to “concessions made to achieve lighter weight”. Apple has finally linked it to a bug in the operating system, iOS 17.

The company highlighted that “the new era of AI” has begun, which will change the way in which users relate to technology and will offer multiple benefits. In this sense, Microsoft already presented its new assistant powered by AI Copilot last May, after which it launched the public preview of this assistant in the Windows 11 Insider update for the month of June.

Now, Microsoft announced that Copilot will come to Windows 11 in update 23H2, which will be released next Tuesday, September 26. With this integration, the context and intelligence of the web, the users’ work data and the actions being carried out on the PC will be combined “in a unique way.”

In this way, the aim is to provide better assistance to the user in their tasks, with privacy and security “in the foreground“, as the company explained in a statement.

Specifically, Copilot is an assistant that introduces AI directly into the Windows operating system and makes tasks easier for users through a chat and different tools and functions. In fact, according to the company, it will be a “simple and fluid” experience that will be available in Windows 11, starting next week.

Thus, this assistant will be available in a sidebar so that the user can easily access its services. In addition, it will work as an application that appears simply by clicking the right mouse button.

WordPad is a basic word processor, with options to choose from such as the font or the ability to justify text, which are included in many versions of Microsoft Windows and which came to it in 1995.

The company indicated that it will stop including this service in its operating system and that it will no longer be updated, as detailed in a post on its blog, where it also recommended the use of another text application, Microsoft Word, for .doc rich text documents. and .rtf.

Microsoft has also advised the use of Windows Notepad for plain text documents, though it has not provided details on when it will remove it from the operating system entirely.

It should be remembered that the company has announced this discontinuation just a few days after announcing news for this other service, which will be updated with functions such as automatic saving and automatic restoration of tabs.

According to the technology giant, among the apps that the user can uninstall from their operating system are Photos, Cortana, Contacts, and Remote Desktop. But the list of apps is expected to increase progressively.

The new set of 21 emoji coming to iPhone include a pink heart, a shaking face, various animals (like a donkey, moose, goose, jellyfish, blackbird, and wings), and elements like a fan or maracas.

Along with the emoji, the technology company incorporated web application notifications on the home page and a feature in calls that isolates the voice from ambient noise. It has also optimized accident detection for iPhone and iPhone 14 Pro devices, as stated on the Apple Support page.

In the Accessibility settings, iOS 16.4 has an option to automatically fade a video when it shows bright lights like flash or strobe effects. And in the Weather app it supports VoiceOver screen reader.

The new iOS update will also detect duplicate photos and videos in a shared iCloud album, and fix several bugs, including one where child purchase requests on parental devices failed.
