The lower house representatives reached this decision even with the support of the Liberals of the FDP recently expelled from the coalition and the Greens, who together with the Social Democrats form a minority government.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 12, after the meetings in the Bundestag, although the date has yet to be confirmed by the president of the nation, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The official must dissolve Parliament after the current chancellor, Olaf Scholz, “submits to a vote of confidence foreseeably on December 16, which he will lose due to being in the minority,” according to some local media.

Scholz wanted to submit to the vote of confidence on January 15, and had proposed that the elections be held at the end of March 2025, although he gave in to the advance of the date.

“Once the date of the vote of confidence is called, the deputies will in principle have 48 hours to vote. Steinmeier will then have a maximum of 21 days to dissolve parliament, a step which, once done, will trigger a 60-day period for holding elections.”

The parliamentarians voted in favor of the elections on 23 February after the coalition between the Social Democrats, Greens and Liberals broke up.

The opening ceremony was held on October 1st, with the participation of the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, with which the old continent takes an important step in the scientific area.

It was learned that the Quantum Data Center is made up of “two quantum systems, computers capable of performing operations in seconds that would take days on classical computing machines.”

According to the German chancellor, IBM would have selected the European country as the headquarters of the data center, taking into account the “good foundations that the country has in terms of research and development.”

It is appropriate to highlight Scholz’s words regarding the fact that Germany is the only country among the large economies of Europe that in recent years has allocated more than 3 % of its GDP to investment in research and development.

Since 2020, investment in quantum computing has reached 2 billion euros. The German chancellor detailed that some of the areas in which quantum computing will be applied are the computer, industrial and pharmaceutical sectors.

This data center will be accessible to “250 companies, research centers and government institutions and agencies,” in the search to position Germany as a “world leader in the use of quantum technologies.”

For his part, the director of IBM’s research area, Darío Gil, indicated that the opening of the first Quantum Data Center in Germany represents a further step in the “creation of a new industry based on new computing models.”

“There are no indications of it,” Scholz said in the traditional summer interview on public broadcaster ARD.

“The parties that promote bad humor had predicted a winter of fury and an autumn of fury. But it was not like that,” added the chancellor. According to Scholz, a lot was done to cushion high energy prices and ensure the security of energy supply.

The chancellor was sympathetic to the cancellation of French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Germany, which was scheduled to take place today and was to last until Tuesday. “I would have done the same. And so we wish him a good hand in managing what, after all, is no small challenge.” He added that he does not expect France to become unstable, even if the images were very shocking.

“It cannot be that acts of violence are committed. And at the same time, of course, we must do everything possible so that the cohesion in our societies works well. And as you know, that is one of my main concerns also for politics in this country,” added the Social Democratic chancellor.

France has been shaken by massive riots for days since last Tuesday a 17-year-old boy was killed by a police shot during a traffic control. Since then looting, arson and violence between police and agitators have been repeated. Hundreds of people were arrested every night.
