The National Football League in the United States established the figure as a result of a recovery in its income, similar to the prepandemi clevels.

Franchise owners anticipate growth for the third consecutive year. In this regard, and referring to the salary limit known as “salary cup”, they have indicated that “it has increased by 31.5 %, while comparing it with that of 2019, it has grown by 27.5 %. In 2021 the salary limit of each franchise stood at 182.5 million dollars and in 2019 at 188.2 million dollars.”

At the close of the 2022 season, the NFL showed an increase of 7.8 % in its income, which represents USD 11.98 billion thanks to two important factors: “the income from the sale of broadcast rights and the improvement of the conditions of betting house sponsorship contracts.”

The 32 teams that make up the NFL recorded profits of USD 2.05 billion, while the league contributed USD 650 million.

Roger Goodell, commissioner of the league, established the goal, before 2027, of increasing “the competition’s business volume to $25 billion,” since his contract ends in that year.
