The company has made it mandatory to use an avatar distinct from that of the entity they represent, in addition to adding certain keywords before their name.

With the new measures, “X seeks to improve transparency with parody, comment, and fan accounts, grouped under the acronym PCF (parody, comment, and fan), and to this end has announced new requirements that will take effect on April 10, according to the X Safety profile.”

Keywords before the username should be “fake,” “fan,” or “comment” to clarify that they are “not affiliated with legitimate entities and thus avoid confusion among platform users. It also seeks to combat identity theft.”

With these measures, the company expresses its concern about an increase in identity theft cases after the elimination of the traditional free verification system (blue ticket) and its replacement with the paid X Premium subscription. Users who do not comply with the new rules risk permanent suspension.

The regulations establish that “to request resident immigration status in its humanitarian version, Venezuelan citizens must present to the Immigration authorities their current ordinary passport and their current humanitarian visa, granted by a Peruvian consular office.”

The third article establishes a transitional measure according to which Venezuelan citizens with expired passports “may request a change in immigration status, provided that they have entered Peru before the entry into force of this resolution and remain in national territory, in addition to comply with the requirements and conditions inherent to each procedure.”

The social networks Twitter, Facebook, TikTok are included, as well as Google and Amazon.

According to Margrethe Vestager, vice president of the community executive responsible for Competition, the new Digital Services Law establishes a period of four months for both messaging and video platforms, as well as search engines and e-commerce companies to adapt to the Brussels requirements.

The companies on the list, which totals 19, must align “their systems, their resources and their processes to meet the demands of being a very large platform, create an independent compliance system and carry out their first annual risk assessment and report it to the Commission.

The list includes the search engines Google Search and Bing (Microsoft); various platforms owned by Alphabet (Google Play, Google Maps, Google Shopping and YouTube); Facebook and Instagram; the marketplaces AliExpress (Alibaba), Amazon and Zalando. Likewise, the Apple AppStore, Booking.com, Wikipedia and the social networks LinkedIn, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok and Twitter.

All these digital platforms must regularly inform users why certain content is recommended to them. For their part, users may report content that violates the regulations.

The CE establishes that ads with sensitive user data, such as ethnic origin or political current, may not be published. Brussels seeks to strengthen data security and the adaptation of the services of these platforms to privacy protocols, particularly for minors.
