Venezuela and Russia strengthened commercial ties this Monday with the signing of new agreements in strategic areas such as health, finance, sports, economy and transportation, among others.

The signing of the agreements took place in Moscow, after “an inter-ministerial meeting of the Russia-Venezuela High-Level Intergovernmental Commission (CIAN) in which the Venezuelan Oil Minister, Pedro Tellechea, and the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Alexander Nóvak participated.”

Both nations agreed, among other things, on a cooperation plan in the sports sector. They also signed a memorandum of understanding between the state airlines Conviasa, of Venezuela, and the Russian Aeroflot.

In this bilateral meeting in the Russian capital, it was also decided to create a “Russian-Venezuelan Center for the Study and Prevention of Infectious Diseases” with headquarters in Venezuela.

The agreements include credit procedures, finances and banking; cooperation in the areas of energy, technical-military, pharmaceutical, health, among others.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry stressed that both representations are willing to work and defend “the principles in favor of a more just multipolar world order.”

The delegations of Venezuela and Russia agreed to hold the XVII meeting of the CIAN, in Moscow, in the fourth quarter of 2023. Additionally, the foreign minister of the Caribbean country, Yván Gil, received the invitation to participate in the International Forum ‘Russian Energy Week’, which will take place in Moscow from October 11 to 13.
