A group of astronomers at Leiden University, Netherlands, discovered a new distant Milky Way-like galaxy, which they have named REBELS-25.

This discovery could change the understanding of how galaxies form, according to the researchers, and they indicate that it could be younger than the Milky Way. They add that “it shares its rotation and structure, instead of appearing disordered and chaotic like other early galaxies.”

According to the researchers, the light reaching our planet from REBELS-25 “was emitted just 700 million years after the universe formed 13.8 billion years ago, a surprisingly short time for it to have become so orderly.”

To observe the rotation and structure of the new galaxy, astronomers used the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope in northern Chile. This work yielded data on more developed features “such as spiral arms, and they plan to carry out further observations to confirm whether they actually exist.”

Andrew Blain, professor of astrophysics at the University of Leicester (UK), highlighted the role of the ALMA telescope in this discovery, stressing that in the past something like this had only been achieved in simulations.

Beyond the dissemination of van Gogh’s work, already well known in the world, this collection’s main purpose is to tell the story of the artist.

The Foundation unveiled six multimedia works of art, all based on locations connected to van Gogh.

“We are proud to present this exclusive look at the making of the video. Stay tuned as we unravel the mysteries surrounding the ideas and techniques of the Vincent van Gogh 39 NFT Collection”, the foundation said on social media.

Some 84 copies in NFT format of each of the works available in 3D animation were also put up for sale. The animation shows the sheet encapsulated in a glass screen, a nod to the project’s preservation theme.

Germany’s gas storage facilities are 90.07 %, despite Russia cutting off gas supplies since late August, data from European operators shows.

The government wants to take various measures to make them as full as possible at the beginning of the heating season, to better cope with the total loss of Russian supplies in winter.

Currently, Germany receives natural gas through pipelines from Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium. At the end of the year, the first two liquefied natural gas (LNG) landing terminals will be commissioned on the German North Sea coast.

The fill level of Germany’s largest storage facility, located in Rehden, in the state of Lower Saxony, is currently below 75 %. Due to scheduled maintenance of this warehouse, no more gas has been injected or withdrawn since last Monday. The maintenance is scheduled to last until next Saturday.

In Spain, the deterioration of the economic confidence indicator in August reflects less optimism in industry and services, while confidence readings rose among consumers, retail and construction.
