The company will require a unique email address per profile within the shared account for login.

This means that each customer must have a unique email address and their own login credentials within the same account.

The goal, according to the new Netflix update, is to “control who views their content on shared accounts.”

According to the company, in practical terms, “each profile will operate more independently within the main account. Once a unique email address is added, each user will be able to receive their own communications and notifications via email.”

With a single email address for login, the platform will be able to more accurately identify the activity associated with each profile.

“With this new system, each person will have to log in with their email address. However, the company has clarified that this change will not apply to children’s profiles.”

The platform recently reported a wide lead over the rest of the companies in the sector, in addition to an increase in annual sales volume and profit margin.

The results have exceeded expectations “in all regions of the world and included 2.8 million new customers in Asia-Pacific. Analysts expected, on average, a total of 4.87 million.”

Forecasts for the next quarter point to a profit of US$5.10 per share, exceeding Wall Street estimates, with sales of US$9.73 billion.

According to Netflix, “the increase in subscribers will be lower than last year, which was 8.76 million. Analysts predict 5.18 million.”

In 2025, the company plans to stop reporting subscriber numbers, which has been seen as a bad sign about its future growth by analysts. In any case, they are confident in sustained growth, and have raised their estimate of profit margins for the entire year.

The study period, according to The Verge, includes several new features “that make the main home of the application less static.” When the remote control is placed on the icons or boxes, they expand, adding dynamism to the process.

To announce this change in the functionality of the Netflix home page, the platform shows “a trailer and more information at the top of the interface when you hover over it.”

This is a redesign that simplifies the presentation, so that all information to the user is presented more prominently.

“Just like today, when you land on a title, a trailer will start playing and below the box, you will find all the information about a title, including its synopsis, the year it was released, the number of episodes and its genre,” they have indicated.

The changes, according to Pat Flemming, senior product manager at Netflix, are aimed at making it easier for users at home to determine if a title is appropriate for them.

Regarding the new menu, this section reduces some of the previous options on the left side, including the Categories, New and Popular and My List tabs, although My Netflix is added.

At the end of the tests, the comments and evaluations of the preselected clients will be analyzed to establish if it is extended to the rest of the users.

The Standard plan with ads already represents 40 percent of all registrations in the markets with advertisers, a figure that supports the company’s intention to eliminate the Standard plan, which has no ads.

The company started to remove the Standard plan in summer, in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, so that new subscribers no longer had it as an option, to choose between the Standard with ads and the Premium.

The next step, as the company explains in the letter to investors on January 23, is to remove the Standard plan in some of the countries with advertisers, starting in Canada and the United Kingdom in the second quarter of this year, and continuing from there.

“We seek to offer a variety of prices and plans to meet a wide variety of needs, which include highly competitive entry prices,” the company said, clarifying that they can ask users to “pay a little more” as they invest and improve the platform “to reflect those improvements.”

Also, it highlighted the success that they believe they have had with the measures against account sharing; functions such as profile change or extra member were, according to the company, “highly demanded” and the payment for sharing has now become the center of their business.

Currently, less than 1% of Netflix subscribers worldwide use the video game service on a daily babsis, according to a study by the market intelligence platform Apptopia, collected by CNBC.

Despite this low popularity, the company plans to make a profit from this format, as it is currently working on titles related to the films and series it offers on its platform, since it considers them a “huge growth opportunity”, as it commented in October 2023.

It also hopes to increase its earnings with proposals such as including purchases within this section, charging for access to more sophisticated games it is developing, or providing subscribers with a new level of advertising.

This was confirmed by sources close to the company to The Wall Street Journal, which insisted that the company’s management is currently considering these and other monetization alternatives.

According to the report, Sarandos and Peters will each get a salary of $3 million, along with an individual bonus of $6 million. In addition, they will receive $31 million in compensation in the form of shares of stock in the entertainment company.

One notable decision is the elimination of the option for executives to choose between receiving compensation in cash or stock. This move, according to the report, is intended to allay shareholder concerns about executives opting to receive all compensation in cash.

Compared to the previous year, Sarandos will receive the same amount as in 2023, while Peters will experience an increase in his compensation, reaching $40 million in total.

Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, who took over as executive chairman of the board after resigning as CEO, will receive a salary of $100,000, adding bonuses and stock compensation to reach a total of $1 million.

Also, CFO Spencer Neumann will receive a salary of $15 million in 2024, as established by the streaming company.

Notably, despite the uncertainty generated by the Hollywood strikes, Netflix announced in October a 10.8 % increase in subscribers during the third quarter of 2023, reaching a total of 247.1 million. In addition, the company achieved a net profit of US$1,677 million and revenues of US$8,542 million, representing an increase of 7.8 % over the same period of the previous year.

The company proposed the creation of a cloud game streaming platform in August 2022, something that was known through an announcement on its official LinkedIn profile, where different job vacancies related to this new product were available.

It was in August of this year when Netflix began testing this technology for Windows and Mac televisions and computers in Canada and the United Kingdom, with the beta version of the games Oxenfree and Molehew’s Mining Adventure.

Then, the company commented on its blog that this was the first step it had taken for players to test the experience, with a limited beta version for a small number of users in those countries.

This new platform option was announced a week after the launch of the Netflix App Controller application for iPhone and iPad users, which works as a video game controller and can be used to play from a television with a Netflix account logged in. .

The company has now updated its blog post to announce that it has begun rolling out this limited beta test for users in the United States. With this, he has announced that he hopes to hear the comments of these testers and share more information about this streaming platform as it progresses in its development.
