The launch of the successor to the original Nintendo Switch smashed all sales forecasts, placing nearly 5.82 million devices in stores.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been a sensation among video game lovers and fans of the brand, who have had to get up early and wait in line in stores to purchase the console.

Nintendo’s strategy “combined an open world of pre-orders, compelling announcements, and its trio of aces – Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon – and the result was a sales boom that continues to rise.”

As a comparison, analysts mention that, for example, it took a little longer for the PlayStation 5 to reach 4.5 million. For its part, Xbox Series X|S sold 3.1 million consoles, while the original Switch took almost twice as long to sell 2.74 million consoles.

Nintendo now seems unstoppable with the Switch 2, which is backed by compelling games like a new Zelda, sequels, and remasters of classics. It also offers a sharper screen, long-lasting battery life, and more.
