Since the beginning of 2024, the technology company began working on this search engine. Now it has launched the test with Plus and Teams subscribers, incorporating a service that “seeks to facilitate the way users access information and make their queries more natural.”

It works like any browser; once the query is made, ChatGPT will offer the information directly from the web “and, as you delve deeper into follow-up questions, ChatGPT will consider the full context of the chat to obtain a better answer.”

SearchGPT is an automatic feature. However, it allows you to search manually by clicking on the web search icon. On the other hand, subscribers can consult the sources through the ‘Sources’ button below the answer. Clicking on the icon will display a sidebar with the references.

OpenAI has indicated that this function will be available “through chatgpt.com, as well as in the chatbot’s mobile and desktop applications.” It will soon arrive in Enterprise and Edu.

This feature is available on both Android and iOS and the desktop version of Chrome, and is optional on adult accounts, so it can be turned on or off by the administrator of the Google account being searched from, according to your needs.

Furthermore, when it is activated, it is not only limited to images, but this tool also helps to filter videos and web pages that include this type of harmful content. If disabled, the search engine provides the most relevant results for the search, which may include such explicit content.

The company has now determined that it will implement this filter by default for all Google search results, including adult Gmail accounts, regardless of whether SafeSearch has been activated or not, as it has announced in a statement.

Google has announced this novelty in the framework of Safe Internet Day, and has explained that it will automatically blur all explicit images. For this reason, Devolo experts have shared a document in which they offer keys and tips to optimally place a WiFi repeater and improve the performance of the Internet connection in any space, considering aspects such as the distance at which they should be placed these devices, their position or existing alternatives for long distances.

From Devolo they explain how these WiFi repeaters work, which receive the signal emitted by the ‘router’ to amplify it and broadcast it again. For this reason, repeaters are also often called ‘amplifiers’.

A critical factor for the speed and wireless stability of this ‘WiFi extension’ is the quality of the connection between the ‘router’ and the repeater. This means that the best possible positioning is really important to optimally extend the connection.

Correct distance and WiFi interference factors

When choosing a position for the repeater, the user should take into account that the closest location is not automatically the best. For example, in a house where the office is far from the ‘router’, placing the repeater in that room can only mean that “if it finally receives a weak signal, what it forwards is also a weak signal.”

In this example, the weak connection between the ‘router’ and the repeater would reduce the online connection. The repeater would hardly have any effect. For this reason, what the experts recommend is to place the repeater “more or less halfway between the router and the devices that are going to use WiFi”. “This means that the repeater will be able to receive a sufficiently strong signal, capable of extending,” they detail.

Also, if possible, the repeater should be located in the center of the room or corridor, and not hidden, for example, in a corner of the room. Walls and furniture decrease the transmission capacity and therefore weaken the WiFi signal. Also, microwaves or wireless computer accessories can interfere with WiFi due to radio waves. “Even water slows down the signals, and it doesn’t have to be water from a large home aquarium. The best position and alternatives for long distances

When looking for the ideal location for the repeater, it is advisable to evaluate the quality of the connection by performing speed test measurements. When properly placed, repeaters improve long-term home WiFi range and ensure much more stable and faster coverage. But even these can reach their limits, especially if you want to cover a distance of several stories high.

In these cases, it is recommended to use other technologies, with available adapters. This also works conveniently in power outlets. The difference with a repeater is that these adapters use the power line as a data cable to communicate with each other. In this way, the network signal can go from one floor to another without being slowed down by ceilings or water pipes.

The new “Fair Use Policy” that Starlink is going to apply to residential services establishes monthly limits on the amount of data that users can consume at high speed, which means that once they exceed them, they will experience a reduction in the speed of connection for the remainder of the billing period.

Starlink offers home users a certain amount of data for priority access each month. Specifically, it identifies this priority access during peak hours, between 07:00 and 23:00 and with a maximum limit of 1TB.

Once that amount of data is consumed, users will experience basic access which, when there is congestion on the network, will reduce connection speed and performance. The company already warns that this may affect the experience in third-party services and applications that make intensive use of this resource, such as broadcasts.

From Starlink they clarify that “in areas that are not congested or at times of little use, users should not notice any difference in performance between Priority and Basic Access during normal use”, as explained on their website.

For users who have exhausted the amount of data available in priority access, the company offers the option to purchase additional data at a high speed, which charges 0.25 cents per GB.

This change in the “Fair Use Policy” for residential services is not “at this time” available in the Spanish market, but it already applies to users in the United States.

NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter covered its thirteenth successful flight on Mars this September 5, exploring future targets of interest to the Perseverance rover from the air.
