The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, made changes in ministers in the portfolios of Labor, Women, Communes and National Commerce.

It was learned that Alexis Corredor was named the new Minister of Labor, replacing Francisco Torrealba.

Guy Vernaez, who comes from the Federal Government Council, takes over as Minister of Communes, which was in charge of Jorge Arreaza.

For her part, Dheliz Álvarez “will be the new Minister of Popular Power for Women and Gender Equality,” according to the Venezuelan president.

Finally, Maduro announced that Luis Antonio Villegas Ramírez assumes the leadership of the Ministry of Popular Power for National Commerce.

Through his account on the social network X, the president not only announced the changes in the cabinet but also thanked the outgoing ministers for their work.

The president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Duarte Pacheco, and his team arrived in Venezuela, this Monday, August 23, in order to hold various meetings with representatives of the national executive and representatives of the Venezuelan opposition in order to inquire about the socio-political reality of the country.

The delegation also includes the president of the Human Rights Committee of parliamentarians Nassirou Bako-Arifari, as well as Samuel Cogolati and Esther Anyakun Davinia, members of the Executive Committee.

During the visit, the parliamentarians also plan to hold a meeting with the directors of the National Electoral Council, the Moral Power and deputies of the National Assembly.

The National Government indicated that the representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will meet “with the Venezuelan group before the UIP, in addition to the special commission for dialogue, peace and reconciliation of the National Assembly elected in 2020.” On the other hand, a meeting with Juan Guaidó and the Deputies of the Delegate Commission of the National Assembly elected in 2015 is also on the agenda.

Last April the Government of Nicolás Maduro extended an invitation to the parliamentary group to visit the country and “learn the truth about Venezuela (…), and learn about the work for peace and reconciliation that the new NA has undertaken,” indicated Jorge Rodríguez

According to what Solórzano pointed out at that time, the Inter-Parliamentary Union is investigating more than 140 complaints, among which stand out the “arbitrary detentions, torture and illegal disqualifications of which parliamentarians have been victims”.

From the Federal Legislative Palace, the National Assembly has installed the new Permanent Commission on Finance and Economic Development, Sovereignty and Integration, with the aim of recovering the country’s economy and positively impacting the salary of Venezuelans.

The Commission was chaired by the deputy Jesús Farías and as vice president of the same Orlando Camacho, and was approved this Tuesday from the protocol chamber where the majority signed said agreement.

For his part, Farías said that from the National Assembly he is aware of “the contributions we can make to achieve the objectives: to recover the economy and that this has a positive effect on salaries, on the improvement of public services and on the quality of employment.”

The deputy added that in addition to contributing to economic development in the country, it should be given “a concrete way to stimulate the entry of foreign investment” and achieve progress “of national investment.”

The Parliament assured that the commission will join the joint work that is being carried out within the Legislative Power in benefit of the closeness between the deputies and the people, in order to continue with the management policies promoted by the National Executive.
