The creation of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE in Spanish) in the Venezuelan state of La Guaira, promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, has attracted investment and created more than 4,000 jobs.

Governor José Alejandro Terán emphasized this last week in an interview with the state television channel, adding that “this initiative seeks to generate incentives for the private sector to promote investment in the country.”

He detailed that an “exceptional legal framework has been established that provides the necessary incentive to invest in the region,” including projects under development through partnerships with other nations, such as “a fully operational sunflower oil processing plant, a fish processing plant, and a toy factory with an initial capacity of approximately 50,000 toys per month.”

Terán also mentioned agreements already signed with two factories: one for fiber optics and another for yarns and fabrics. “In that context,” he announced, “the largest wheat processing plant in Latin America will be inaugurated soon.”

Through the “La Guaira Emprende Plan,” regional authorities have activated “the commercial and tourism sector, for the enjoyment of both residents and visitors.”
