It was learned that at least “eight global technology companies, including the Lenovo Group and Microsoft, promised today, Monday, to develop more ethical artificial intelligence (AI) in accordance with the United Nations framework.”

“GSMA, INNIT, Lenovo Group, LG AI Research, Mastercard, Microsoft, Salesforce and Telefónica signed an agreement during the 2nd World Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the Slovenian city of Kranj”, according to the media.

Audrey Azoulay, director general of UNESCO, described the agreement as a concrete commitment by global technology companies. Furthermore, “he urged all technology firms to follow the example of these eight companies and encouraged an alliance between the public and private sectors in the development of AI for the common good.”

According to the document, technology companies must guarantee human rights in the processes of design, development, purchase, sale and use of AI.

On the other hand, they will be subject to safety standards, as well as mechanisms to identify the adverse effects of AI and those necessary for timely prevention according to national legislation.

It is important to remember that the “UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence” was the first in the world and remains the only regulatory framework on AI.
