As a financial institution committed to the country’s development, Bancamiga focuses its social responsibility efforts on fundamental pillars such as health and social well-being. With this contribution, the bank actively joins the mission of San Juan de Dios Hospital, a non-profit institution dedicated to raising funds to support the most vulnerable families, providing them with excellent care and helping them overcome their health problems.

“Financially supporting San Juan de Dios Hospital is an investment in the lives and futures of thousands of children and adults who find in this center a light, a hope, and answers to their medical needs with the highest standards of service, human warmth, and professionalism,” highlighted José Simón Elarba, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga.

For his part, Dr. Luis Azpurua, Medical Director of San Juan de Dios Hospital, thanked Bancamiga for its support and clarified that the money received will be invested in medical equipment, always with the intention of serving the population, especially those most in need.

“We want to provide healthcare services to the middle class and those most in need at a reasonable price,” the doctor emphasized.

A health ally

The medical center offers a wide range of services and 36 medical specialties. These include pediatric and adult specialty consultations; a diagnostic and laboratory unit; surgery; and a physical rehabilitation area.

The study included the Chilean, Peruvian and Colombian markets, where “money transfers abroad increased 52.8%, compared to the same period in 2023.”

According to Tomás Bercovich, CEO of the company, the constant increase in the volume of money transferred “in personal remittances and business shipments through Global66 is just a reflection of our growing global interconnectedness and is also a testament to the confidence in digital financial solutions that offer security, speed and transparency.”

In the B2B (companies) segment, there was an increase that surprised fintech, since it reached 100% throughout the region, derived from payroll payment, payment to freelancers, and digital service platforms. In this case, the main destinations were the United States, Colombia, and Peru.

Rodrigo Lama, Chief Business Officer of Global66, spoke about this, noting that what companies are looking for is to expand their presence and strengthen their supply chains beyond their borders, “which is evident in the exponential growth of B2B traded volume compared to with the previous year.”

According to the report, those who send money abroad are mostly merchants, business administrators and students, “motivated by the transfer of their savings, family remittances and the purchase of real estate.”

The 1.2 % rate is the lowest the nation has recorded since August 2012, when goods and services became more expensive by an average of 1.1 %, according to official information.

The BCV indicated that the sector that registered the greatest increase in prices last March was health, with an average increase of 1.6 %, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear and “miscellaneous goods and services”, with increases of 1.3 %.

Between 2017 and 2021, Venezuela experienced hyperinflation with monthly increases of up to three digits, the highest of 196.6 % in January 2019, which rapidly reduced the purchasing power of workers and the value of the bolivar, the currency national, which led the country to unofficially adopt the US dollar as a way to protect itself against this crisis.

Currently, even the price of gasoline is set in dollars, at 50 cents per liter.

The government expects Venezuela to close 2024 with the lowest inflation in the last decade, as reported last March by President Nicolás Maduro, who assured he had a plan to continue slowing the pace of price growth.

Meanwhile, university professors and workers from various sectors demand that the authorities increase the minimum wage, the reference for other salaries in the public sector, which is equivalent to about $3.5 per month.

The decision was made known on Tuesday through a statement that clearly expresses Credit Suisse’s desire to detach itself from the past, with the sale of its business in tax havens.

The financial conglomerate will divest itself “of its Credit Suisse Trust (CST) unit. One part is bought by the firm Butterfield (the business in Singapore, Bahamas and Guernsey) and another part by the Gasser law firm, which will keep the rest of the business of the Credit Suisse division to manage it from Liechtenstein”, as they have indicated to the media.

The scandals of recent years about the use of “shell companies” to evade taxes that have involved Credit Suisse led to this decision.

For the Swiss bank, 2022 should be a year of transition towards a more transparent performance, away from lawsuits and lawsuits that cause collateral damage.

On the other hand, Credit Suisse aspires to a restructuring, amid rumors of possible purchase or dissolution of the group. In any case, they are currently focused on reducing legal risks.

It was the editor of Esper.io and former editor-in-chief of XDA Developers, Mishaal Rahman, who shared a screenshot of what would be his interface days later. These included saving options for gift cards and bills.

However, it wasn’t until May, at its annual Google I/O 2022 developer conference, that the company announced that it would be bringing back the Google Wallet app.

This new version comes as a digital wallet for Android that allows access to payment cards, loyalty cards, plane tickets, event tickets and the vaccination certificate, among other official documents, from the same place on the smartphone.

The representative of the entity spoke during the opening of a workshop on monetary policies organized between the FED and Columbia University.

Williams highlighted the importance of blockchain technology, and the positive changes it has brought to the world in general, and the benefits it brings to central banks and digital currencies issued by these institutions (CBDC).

The head of the FED also stressed that attention had to be paid to stablecoins backed by liquid and safe assets, which could also bring great changes to the system currently used.

“As central bankers, it is critical that we remain focused on carrying out our responsibilities, while keeping pace with the world around us,” said the CEO.

This series of comments made by William, evidence the importance of new technologies in each of the aspects of the US economy, and international. Based on this, the invitation of the organizations is to make these issues known to the general population much further.

“In the midst of all the uncertainties, there is much to be said in favor of putting an end to the net purchase of bonds soon and giving a first signal in the interest rate,” Sewing said in a video conference at his function as head of the BdB.

It is “a signal that is urgently needed now,” stressed the president of the entity that brings together German banks. Sewing said that the sooner the ECB adopts the countermeasures, the better it will be for the development of the German and European economy.

The main objective of the ECB is to keep prices stable in the medium term in the eurozone within the framework of an inflation rate of two percent. Inflation in the 19 countries that make up the eurozone climbed in March 2022 to a record level of 7.5 percent per year.

Also in Germany, Europe’s largest economy, soaring energy prices pushed the annual inflation rate past the seven percent mark in March to 7.3 percent, the highest level on record. since German reunification in 1990.

Higher rates to combat inflation

“Long-term high inflation rates are a poison for the stability of our economy. And this is not only because high rates of currency depreciation worry businesses and consumers alike,” Sewing said.

“It is also about the fact that the cheap money policy has been accompanied by harmful redistributive effects for years,” said the BdB president.

Sewing said that people with lower incomes are the most affected. Higher inflation rates reduce the purchasing power of consumers because they can then get less for a euro.

The banking executive stated that each month the danger of inflation stabilizing at a high level grows. “That is why I can only warn that we continue with the policy of cheap money and that then these redistribution effects with all their social consequences are intensified,” he warned.

The European Central Bank has kept interest rates at extremely low levels for years. The key interest rate in the eurozone is at a record low of zero percent. Commercial banks currently have to pay 0.5 percent interest when they deposit money with the Central Bank. The Governing Council of the ECB will hold its next monetary policy meeting on April 14.

The study highlights that 24 % of United States citizens held cryptocurrencies in 2021 and only 23 % held certificates of deposit. In addition, it points out that there are more citizens who claimed to have cryptos than those who claim to have certificates of deposit. That is, savings accounts that keep a fixed amount of money for a specific period.

The 31 % of those surveyed expressed having investments in the traditional stock market, while “14 % had a robo-advisor investment account, which are automated portfolio platforms that make investments in consideration of the investor’s personal circumstances.”

Global investment in cryptocurrencies grows

The study also made reference to the global scope, highlighting that Latin American countries are the ones with the highest rates of ownership of cryptocurrencies. But that some European countries such as Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom have significantly increased investments in this type of currency in the last six months. The opposite happens in Asia. In China and Japan, the adoption of cryptocurrencies decreased between the months of August and December 2021.

Investors consider that investing in cryptocurrencies is more profitable than in traditional instruments or keeping money in the bank. They are aware of the volatility of cryptos. However, they offer greater opportunities to earn more money and quickly.

The admission of Bitcoin in the Latin American nation strengthens the belief that people “should have control of their money”. This statement was made by Hoskinson in the YouTube video where he congratulates Bitcoin for being accepted as legal tender.

The founder of Cardano expressed his joy for the move and the victory that this implies for the “cryptocurrency industry”. He is sure that crypto assets like Bitcoin are the money of the future, because the generation of young people will induce, in a massive way, so this phenomenon inevitably becomes a reality.

In his opinion: “Most people under the age of 25 have a positive opinion about cryptocurrencies, and many of them do. That is the future. Their children will grow up with those values and those beliefs about the nature of money.”

Other analysts also share Hoskinson’s point of view and consider that “more countries around the world will join the cryptocurrency industry by accepting them as part of various government structures.” Legal recognition by El Salvador is influencing other nations to enter the crypto market.
