Xiaomi has brought to Spain two new devices with which it enters a new category of products: pets, with the intelligent feeder and drinker, controllable through the Mi Home mobile application so that they always have food and water available.

The feeder (Xiaomi Smart Pet Food Feeder) and the drinker (Xiaomi Smart Pet Fountain) have been designed to manage the water and food consumption of dogs and cats at home by linking them with the Mi Home or Xiaomi mobile apps (only the feeder).

Xiaomi Smart Pet Food Feeder has sensors that detect both the amount of food left and the status of distribution, and allow you to manage the times and quantities that are dispensed.

This smart home equipment houses a food container made of stainless steel, with a design that facilitates its removal and washing, while the food compartment seeks to guarantee the freshness of food with a moisture-proof coating.

The feeder is designed for cats and dogs of medium or small size, since it has a capacity for 1.8 kilograms of feed, enough for between 15 and 20 days. The drinker, for its part, admits up to 2 liters of water, being able to satisfy the needs of the pet between four and seven days.

Xiaomi Smart Pet Fountain notifies the user through the mobile ‘app’ when it detects that there is an insufficient water level, or if it is necessary to clean the fountain or replace the filter. This last element helps keep the water free of impurities (such as hair or residual chlorine) or calcium and magnesium ions, which can cause kidney stones.

This drinker is also prepared to dispense a small amount of water in the event of a power outage, and has been manufactured in compliance with the necessary requirements to be in contact with food materials and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the water.

The DuckDuckGo search engine has enabled Global Privacy Control (GPC) by default, a configuration setting that sets a preference for privacy for all visited websites.

The GPC has been activated by default this Thursday for the DuckDuckGo mobile applications on iOS and Android, and for the desktop extensions in the Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers, as the company reported in a publication on its official website.

As you explain, GPC is a browser or device setting that, when enabled, indicates to all visited websites a preference for privacy.

This setup follows the announcement made a few months ago by DuckDuckGo as a founding member of the GPC standard.

The measure will provide additional legal protection in certain jurisdictions for situations in which websites could sell or share the data with other companies, such as advertisers or intermediaries, after the user’s visit.
