The Central American country of El Salvador successfully celebrated the 72nd edition of Miss Universe, attracting 65,000 visitors who witnessed the dazzling triumph of the Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios. Official data, shared today by the Government through the social network X, reveal that this event generated significant income, reaching the figure of 177 million dollars.

During the two weeks of the contest, visitors from the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala enjoyed an average stay, consolidating El Salvador’s position as a renowned tourist destination. San Salvador not only witnessed the coronation, but also recorded 100 % hotel occupancy, while 122 million viewers around the world followed the spectacle closely.

The international impact of this event was highlighted by the Salvadoran Government, which stated: “This event projected us globally, consolidating us as an incredibly attractive destination recognized for our organizational capacity.”

Among the novelties of the contest, the participation of two married candidates with children stood out, a change in rules that allowed the inclusion of women in various family situations. In addition, two transgender women and a plus-size participant also shined on stage.

President Nayib Bukele announced last January that El Salvador would host this prestigious competition, marking the second time in the country’s history as host of Miss Universe, the first since 1975.
