Business owners and merchants in Falcón state, in western Venezuela, have high hopes for the opening of the direct air route between Las Piedras Airport and Aruba.

Business leaders hope that approximately six commercial airlines will soon join this connection “to strengthen the connectivity of the Paraguaná Peninsula with the islands of the Dutch Caribbean.”

According to Juan Gotopo, vice president of the Coro Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, several airlines are interested in beginning operations. Meanwhile, Aruba’s Minister of Tourism, Wendrick Cicilia, along with Minister President Michiel Godfried “Mike” Eman, indicated that “in addition to Aeroparaguaná, Venezolana, Laser, Turpial, Dividivi, S-Air, and Aruba Airlines are also interested in starting operations between the two countries.”

This route will connect the residents of Falcón with other international destinations. Queen Beatrix International Airport offers a wide range of flights, “connecting to North America, Central America, South America, and also to Europe.”
