The event, which connected more than 200 participants from across the country, was facilitated by Mauricio Parilli, director of Aprendo y Emprendo.

The main objective of the forum was to continue training Venezuelan entrepreneurs and to raise awareness among participants about the business opportunities available for older adults, dispelling the myth that age is a barrier to entrepreneurship, emphasized Milagro González, Director of Social Responsibility at Bancamiga.

During his presentation, Parilli pointed out that although older people often face employment discrimination due to their age, they represent a market niche with specific consumer needs.

He explained that there is a global trend where older people are no longer seen as a burden, but rather as a generation that consumes, has particular needs, and can be self-employed.

The expert stressed the importance of a mindset shift to understand and capitalize on this segment of the population, which impacts the so-called “silver economy.”

Broad opportunities with Bancamiga

The silver economy, Parilli explained, presents the challenge of developing products and services adapted to the consumption habits and needs of older adults, to improve their quality of life, fostering employment and economic independence.

“The most important thing is to understand the shift in mindset and narrative. The new narrative is called ‘new longevity,’ and it establishes that we are going to have longer life expectancies. Therefore, we are entering the world of the silver economy, where age barriers are being broken down, and we are starting to have a dynamic population with increasingly significant purchasing power,” he emphasized.

Parilli pointed out that in Venezuela, 19 % of the population is over 55 years old. This segment represents more than five million people who require products and services tailored to their needs. Furthermore, this population is also capable of offering products and services themselves, leveraging their accumulated life experience.

According to the expert, 55 % of older adults feel that companies do not offer products or services specifically for them, and 61 % identify that the areas of health and well-being have the greatest gap in offerings for this segment of the population.

With the virtual forum “Entrepreneurship After 50,” Bancamiga reaffirms its commitment to economic development and social inclusion, offering tools and knowledge that empower Venezuelan entrepreneurs.

In a moving gesture of solidarity and commitment, it visited the Comprehensive Care Center for Children and Adolescents (CAINA) in Gavilán, Miranda state. Accompanied by an enthusiastic group of bank volunteers, they brought joy to the young people participating in this noble initiative of the Missionary Sisters of Mercy.

The day was marked by generosity and affection. Bancamiga, through its Social Responsibility Department, donated food to the Missionary Sisters of Mercy, directly contributing to the nutrition of the community’s children.

But the visit went far beyond a material contribution. Bancamiga volunteers actively participated in CAINA’s routine, sharing moments and gestures with the children in the context of the Children’s Day celebration.

The bank’s employees also supported the center’s daily work, leading recreational activities that brought smiles to faces, serving lunch and snacks, and distributing party favors that sparked enthusiasm.

CAINA, an initiative by and for children

CAINA, located in the rural area of El Hatillo, is a beautiful initiative promoted by the Missionary Sisters of Mercy, which tirelessly dedicates itself to supporting the nutrition of at-risk children and adolescents, facilitating their incorporation into the educational system, and training them in agriculture and other essential skills. Their work is essential to creating a more promising future for these generations in the communities of Gavilán, Turgua, Lomas de Baruta, and Curiepe in Miranda state, as well as in Espino, Guárico state.

“We are moved by the extraordinary work of the Missionary Sisters of Mercy at CAINA. Seeing the joy in these children’s eyes and allowing us to be part of their day to share these moments with them reinforces our social commitment to Venezuela,” said Milagro González, Director of Social Responsibility at Bancamiga.

Bancamiga’s visit to CAINA is a clear example of how joining forces between the private sector and social organizations can generate a positive impact in the most vulnerable communities.

Catia, Caracas.

This initiative, part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, aimed to provide practical tools and essential knowledge to entrepreneurs and those with business aspirations and ideas in this community in the Sucre parish of Caracas.

The forum focused on addressing key chapters from the “Manual for Entrepreneurs: 10 Key Questions for Starting a Business in Venezuela,” the latest publication from the Bancamiga Publishing Fund. Renowned experts in different fields led the conferences, generating a valuable exchange with attendees.

Mauricio Parilli, director of Aprendo y Emprendo, opened the series of conferences by answering the question, “Can I develop a business aligned with my purpose?” The expert emphasized the importance of passion and a personal connection with the business idea as drivers for long-term success and sustainability.

Next, Edwin Ojeda, certified mentor of the Emprende Network and professor at IESA, shed light on the question, “To whom do I offer what I know how to do?” During his presentation, the professor delved into the importance of market segmentation and the development of the Canvas model.

Martha Lucero, brand advisor and entrepreneur coach, offered those present a set of practical tools to address the challenge of “How do I promote my products and/or services?” She emphasized the need to build a strong brand and utilize effective marketing strategies tailored to the specificities of the Venezuelan market.

The forum was closed by Oskayda Alvarado, Entrepreneurship Manager at Bancamiga Banco Universal, who detailed the various “Financing Opportunities and Product Portfolio” that the financial institution offers entrepreneurs. The bank’s commitment to promoting new business initiatives, offering accessible financial solutions tailored to the needs of each project, was highlighted.

“At Bancamiga, we are convinced of the transformative potential of entrepreneurship in Venezuela. This forum in Los Frailes de Catia demonstrates our commitment to bringing knowledge and tools directly to communities, empowering citizens to realize their ideas and actively contribute to the country’s economic development,” said Milagro González, Director of Social Responsibility at Bancamiga.

Entrepreneurship with knowledge, supported by Bancamiga

Attendees expressed their appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the quality of the presentations and the relevance of the topics covered to the current context.

Carmen Castillo, leader of the @hechoamano_conamorrr venture, acknowledged that it was her “first time participating in an activity like this, and I thought it was fabulous because it provides you with tools and things I didn’t know about.
“This is excellent and a benefit to the community. I’m leaving with a very clear idea of what entrepreneurship is and how we should work,” said gastronomic entrepreneur Zuleima Chacón.

Leonardo Devia, leader of the @panymerengue venture, expressed his gratitude for the knowledge acquired at the forum, because “the fear of failure, to which we have dedicated our energy, dissipates as the information expands and becomes more concrete. For example, the Canvas allows us to have clarity when offering products and services.”

The project was created to address the concerns and needs expressed by thousands of Venezuelan entrepreneurs during the forums, seminars, and training workshops organized by Bancamiga nationwide since 2022. The manual compiles the 10 most frequently asked questions by entrepreneurs and offers clear and practical answers from experts in different fields.

A resource for success

“We are proud to share the second title from the Bancamiga Publishing Fund. An innovative proposal that addresses the concerns of entrepreneurs. We are confident that this will be an effective and essential tool for all those who want to develop their business ideas and projects,” said José Simón Elarba, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal.

Also to those who inspire with their perseverance and boundless passion, whose achievements are passed on from generation to generation, and to those who are able to get up after a tragic life experience.

With each of the stories, readers will learn about the efforts of their protagonists to achieve their dreams. They will learn that in Caracas there are people who are in charge of prolonging the life of toys, that in Mérida an agronomist has been promoting a project for the registration and preservation of mucuchí dogs for 20 years, or that in Nueva Esparta 27 women are in charge of collecting oysters from the mangroves of La Restinga.

Bancamiga presented the first literary work of the Bancamiga Editorial Fund, in an event held on the ground floor of the Cubo Negro, in Caracas

These are stories that, despite having a very different context and development, have as protagonists mothers and fathers, workers and housewives who strive from their trenches for the common good. This is what Lilian Gluck and her team of volunteers do, who have managed to recover and recycle 60,000 stuffed animals, toys, educational games and dolls; Edgar Albarrán, at almost 3,000 meters above sea level in the state of Mérida, by creating Mucuchilandia with the aim of rescuing the Mucuchí race, and Érika Fernández and her oyster farmers, heirs to the art of collecting and cultivating the mangrove oyster, who fight on Margarita Island to transmit this tradition to the new generations. And there are many other stories like these.

During the event held at the PB of Cubo Negro, the President of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal, José Simón Elarba, expressed that the quality of the publications and their contribution to the development of the country will allow the Editorial Fund to become “a national and international reference; in addition to promoting the creation of spaces for participation by renowned authors, allies and interest groups for the organization.”

The contribution consisted of three boxes of surgical instruments, 31 pieces each, made in German stainless steel, which will be used to perform general surgeries. In addition, a specialized instrument kit was awarded to strengthen the bariatric surgery program. These tools will help reinforce the work of medical staff and support their performance during interventions.

The donation, the third this year for the public institution, was delivered by a delegation from Bancamiga led by its executive president, Ariel Martínez, the director of Social Responsibility, Milagro González and the designer and ambassador of the bank, Amanda Dudamel.

This act is “of deep satisfaction for both parties. For the bank, the relationship with the hospital is very important. With this contribution, which will surely be constant, we want to give support, a boost, to this hospital that works so hard,” said the president of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal, Carmelo De Grazia.

Dr. Maurilina Guzmán, general director of the health center, thanked the delivery of surgical instruments for the nine operating rooms.

“This will help an average of 2,300 patients who undergo surgery monthly at this institution, both adults and pediatrics,” he said.

According to the executive president, Ariel Martínez, the alliance between Bancamiga and the Domingo Luciani Hospital for the donation of medical equipment allows “saving the lives of people who come to the hospital to require health services,” supporting the work carried out by the doctors.

Smiles for everyone

The Bancamiga delegation had the opportunity to tour the hospital facilities, especially the pediatric care areas, where the children received a sweet gift given by Amanda Dudamel that made their stay at the facility happy.

“It has been very beautiful to see first-hand the donation we gave, and to have the doctors directly explain the use that is going to be given to it, the number of patients who are going to benefit, and then to have been able to visit the pediatric floor. , where the children are recovering, to be able to approach them, give them a detail, give them smiles and we end up recharged with energy,” commented the Venezuelan designer.

The alliance with Bancamiga is “demonstrating that teamwork is a sure victory,” added Maurilina Guzmán.

Commitment to Venezuelans

The alliance with this medical institution began in the first half of the year, when the hospital management received a translucent surgical table to provide quality care to 300 patients each month.

Likewise, Bancamiga donated high-tech medical equipment (resectoscope) to increase the effectiveness of surgeries in the urology service, reduce operation and recovery times, as well as complications associated with treatments.

These training activities, organized with the support of public and private organizations, seek to strengthen the capabilities of microentrepreneurs and entrepreneurs, ratifying the bank’s social responsibility policy, established by the president of the Board of Directors of Bancamiga Banco Universal, Carmelo De Grazia, with the purpose of contributing to the economic development of the country.

At both meetings, Bancamiga’s Director of Social Responsibility, Milagro González, welcomed the participants, who were then able to listen to lectures by experts such as Mauricio Parilli, director of Aprendo y Emprendo, who spoke about the maturation and growth of ventures towards sustainability. The innovation coach, Luis Moreno, explained how knowing your customers allows you to increase business development.

Oskayda Alvarado, Entrepreneurship Manager at Bancamiga, presented the financing opportunities and the portfolio of products and services for small entrepreneurs. Likewise, on each day, there were talks dedicated to providing marketing keys and digital channels to boost sales.

Training from Petare to refine the microenterprise

One of the training sessions was held at the César Rengifo Theater, where about 250 Emprender Juntos participants gathered, who exceeded the capacity of this space located in the Historic Center of Petare, said Yoana Díaz Tovar, coordinator of this platform in the Sucre municipality of Miranda state.

“The expectations of this meeting are broad, strengthened by the private bank, which has taken us into account and is making firm alliances with entrepreneurs,” he celebrated.

The representative to the National Assembly for the state of Miranda, Gabriela Chacón, assured that the forum for entrepreneurs “is a luxury, because not all private banks have the intention or insistence to share the joint responsibility of promoting entrepreneurship.”

Bancamiga products and services

At the César Rengifo Theater, the forum participants benefited from an account opening operation to obtain the Mastercard Debit Card, the acquisition of Bancamiga Points of Sale and advice on the services that the bank offers to small business owners.

“Bancamiga is strengthening new entrepreneurs to get ahead in this economic situation. With this help, we can move forward with a business. The attention has been very good. We are very grateful for this opportunity that they give people to express themselves with their knowledge, put it to the test and take advantage of it, and no longer be dependent for having their own work alternative,” said Luis Noriega, gastronomic entrepreneur.

Dayana Ortega, who sells Creole chocolates and sweets, attended the forum to “take advantage of the Bancamiga event to open accounts and acquire products such as points of sale, with the full intention of strengthening our businesses and helping the people to continue undertaking, continue creating and continue believing in our country.”

Entrepreneur movement

The second training day for Bancamiga entrepreneurs took place in the Auditorium of the National Pipeline Institute, in Chuao, which brought together more than 100 representatives of the Manuelita Sáenz Women’s Movement and the Great Transportation Mission.

Eliana Salazar, president of the Manuelita Sáenz Women’s Movement, thanked the organized entrepreneurs for their support, through training “to nourish us, grow and transform us.” Likewise, he described the training day as an example of “integration” of public institutions and private companies.

The forum “has strengthened me a lot, because I had no knowledge in several subjects. This is nourishing me to consolidate my entrepreneurship and formalize it. It is very important to study to undertake. It is very important that the private banking sector supports us,” said Lenis Llamoza, entrepreneur in the gastronomic field.

“This day has been excellent, with a good team of trainers with a lot of information. I took all the tools with me, I didn’t know many points,” said Mary Moreno, who is dedicated to the production and marketing of Greek yogurt.

Mecelenia Ortiz, Training Coordinator of the Manuelita Sáenz Women’s Movement, said that the training activity represents “an important motivation, because the majority of the participants have already worked on their entrepreneurship ideas, they just require tools, knowledge so that they can elevate their production.”
